Well, it doesn't seem so. Except for the fact that every book ends. With it comes heartbreak, because you don't want such a great book to do anything even close to ending.

Aly is now the (sort of) spymaster in the Balitang household as they return to Court. She spreads rumors and broadens her spy-network to help the raka-conspiracy. She's witty and fun, but a little more human in this book.
A four year-old sits on the throne, guided by regents every bit as rotten as the last King. The luarin (white-skinned rulers of the Copper isles, they opress the raka) are beginning to see the regents' flaws too, with a little help and prodding.
The path is being cleared for the Balitang ladies, who are to be the future Queens of the isles, but will the raka-conspiracy have it in them to get them there? And also: Will they be able to avoid the bloodbath that might follow?

Apart from the ending, the only letdown was the fact that there was so little (dare I say nothing?) about my very favourite Tortall heroine. But that's no reason not to buy the book.

It's fast-paced, and best of all, it makes sense! People do stuff for a reason.

Aly's journey 13 Oct 2004
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
As the sequel to Tricksters Choice and the fourth series set in the world of Tortall I was not disappointed. The Lionesses daughter Aly continues her journey in the Copper Isles. In a world of espionage and intrigue Aly is a witty and intelligent fifteen year old girl who has always been shadowed by the deeds of her great parents. This book also has the the usual meddling Gods and some interesting plot twists. Like all the other Tamora Pierce books Tricksters Queen is well worth the read.

Picking up a few months on from Thrickster's Choice, we are immediately immersed in the life of a spy master as Aly takes control of the operation to put a new, sane queen on the throne. Aly is her usual laid back self, though we learn that she is not as omniscient as she would like to think after a series of costly mistakes. All the characters grow and develop, some not quite as much as the reader might like due to a large cast that limits the "page time" each character enjoys. A good end to the series with a well paced and executed battle, and enough references to previous series' characters to satisfy any "Tortallphile"

Liked it a lot.
I really liked this, because the heroine is not the normal sort of adventurous girl who gets into scrapes. Read more
