5.0 out of 5 stars FUNKYFUNKYFUNKY, 30 Sep 2003
By R. Stokes "skoolyad" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The word 'funk' is regularly misused in album reviews; I’ve seen it written so many times – from Fila Brazilia to The People Under The Staircase – and then gone out and bought the CD with high expectations only to be sadly disappointed. Not in this case, though. You have my word on it: THIS IS ONE FUNKY ALBUM! Outrageously funky; deliriously funky; disgracefully funky. Go out and buy it and if it doesn’t get you dancing like a monkey you can come round my house and I’LL reimburse you myself. Krafty Kuts’ 1999 mix CD – Slam The Breaks On – is awesome in itself, but it now sounds a touch dated – a product of the big-beat era. But with Tricka Technology, Krafty and A. Skills have created a monster. There ARE beats here but they’re not BIG, they’re PHAT and (again) funky. It’s a brilliant mix of old skool hip-hop and 70’s funk but done in a way that makes it sound modern and fresh at the same time. These guys are obviously completely immersed in what they do and have made the perfect funk album - Bootsy Colins couldn’t have done any better himself. I’m giving it 5 stars because I can’t give it 10. If you like proper funk, click ‘Add to Shopping Basket’ right now. I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get in the mood for summer!, 21 April 2004
If you're looking for an album with the perfect vibe for background musicto a relaxed barbecue with a few mates, then look no further.
Krafty Kuts and A. Skills have delivered possibly the most essential albumof the season, combining merry funky breaks with light but tight rap, which all modern breakbeat, hip hop and R'n'B fans can not be seenwithout. Krafty was previously known as being one of the funky breaksscenes most prominent DJ's, with a knowhow of how to work the crowd, butthis album shows he certainly knows how to work a sampler and sequencingprogramme aswell.
Hip Hop driven tracks such as Tricka Technology, Come Alive and Gimme TheBreaks shine through, but more relaxed joints including Peaches, Roll OverBaby and Give You That provide the balance that all good albums need, injecting a more laid back attitude into the mix.
With the British summer days being as few and far between as they are, they need to be appreciated while they last, and what better accompanimentthan this quality CD? Other than a BBQ and a nice cool beer, of course.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the summer 2004, 12 April 2004
By A. C. E. Christodoulou "Enfused" (London, UK) - See all my reviews

This is a fantastic album. Sounding like it could have been recorded over ten years ago and super fresh at the same time, this is funky party hip-hop and breaks the way it should be. Everyone that has heard my copy has bought it. If you're having a party, or you just want to feel like you're at one, put this album on. If you don't start dancing you must be deaf, or driving, as that's the other place where it doesn't leave the stereo. Nuff said.
