Any occasion when Sue Raney returns to the recording studio is a real treat and this stunning album is no exception.
In superb voice (as clear and controlled as ever) Ms Raney pays tribute to the one and only Doris Day with her own interpretations of 13 of her famous songs mainly from her Warner Bros film years. There is also an additional newly composed title track.
The album was recorded at Capitol Studio A with the orchestra arranged and conducted by Alan Broadbent. This is the same studio where Sue recorded her first album, at the age of 17, with Nelson Riddle.
Every track is a highlight but if I had to pick a standout, it would have to be 'My Dream Is Yours' which sends shivers down the spine.
What a fantastic way to celebrate 50 years as a recording artiste! Here's hoping more albums follow from this superlative singer.
