Ozzy talks about his new album Scream

Biography

Biographyby Barry Weber

Though many bands have succeeded in earning the hatred of parents and media worldwide throughout the past few decades, arguably only such acts as Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, and Marilyn Manson have tied the controversial record of Ozzy Osbourne. The former Black Sabbath frontman has been highly criticized over his career, mostly due to rumors denouncing him as a ... Read more in Amazon's Ozzy Osbourne Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock guitar genius without equal 19 Jan 2009
Format:Audio CD
There are so many words used to describe Randy Rhoads since his woefully early death in 1982, I have struggled over the last 25 or so years to find them. This album is all that needs to be testament to the greatness of this meteor in orbit. His virtuosity combined with lyricism is on display throughout, but for me as a life long Sabbath fan, his cover of Children of the Grave says everything about Randy's genius. Flawless and free.

Rest in Peace Randy, you were the simply the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rhoads rules! 9 Aug 2010
Format:Audio CD
If you love guitars played LIVE, loud and with skill, you must own this cd.Randy Rhoads to me is still the greatest heavy metal guitarist EVER!,certainly over the last 35 years,(so no I dont include Hendrix,Page.Beck or Blackmore they are from a different time)Randy may not be as original as Eddie Van Halen, but unlike Van Halen ,he wasnt as dependant on 2 handed tapping or whammy bars, yet Rhoads did have a greater sense of melody and restraint in his playing.Randy's guitar playing harmonised his love of rock and his background of classical guitar, which resulted in his playing sounding effortless. He could play fastflowing solos, biting riffs yet unlike many of his peers he could also play with feeling and wouldnt overdo it either(Check out the solo on "Goodbye to Romance"). This album was released originally in 1987 to coincide with the 5th anniversary of Randys death and contains the best tracks off Blizzard of Ozz,some Sabbath and 1 or 2 other bits such as Randy noodling on acoustic guitar a version of Dee.Highly ,highly Recommended stuff and to this day Most of these songs are STILL found in OZZY's live set no matter what album he tours,no matter who the guitarist is.Let's be clear; Career wise Ozzy owes everything since Black Sabbath sacked him in 1979,to the genius of Randy Rhoads!and the songs they wrote together with Bob Daisley & Lee Kerslake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Randy's album! 11 April 2003
By Jason
Format:Audio CD
This might have Ozzy's name on the front, but let's face it this is the late, great Randy Rhoads showcase. Basically a live overview of the Blizzard/Madman albums with some inventive takes on old Sabbath cuts, Rhoads just completely shreds his guitar and creating great music for Ozzy to prance around and shriek over. Ozzy is also sounding pretty good whilst the rhythm section (Aldridge drums/Sarzo bass) are as tight as ever.
This album doesn't have a version of the title track off "Diary of a Madman" although I suppose that would be almost impossible to replicate live, but has some classic renditions of the Blizzard lineup ("Crazy Train", "Believer", "I don't Know" the list goes on!), as well as some immaculate solos by Randy (after a smoking version of "Suicide Solution") and Aldridge, as well as my personal fave "Revelation: Mother Earth" complete with Airey keys work.
Also included is the rather haunting recording session of Rhoads' classical guitar workout "Dee" and some very poignant and interesting liner notes by Ozzy and Randy's Mom.
For me, a great testament to Ozzy's best guitarist. Never again would Ozzy's music sound so honest and crafted.
May the spirit of Randy's playing never die

5.0 out of 5 stars an incredible live album of ozzy's classic songs 24 Nov 2000
Format:Audio CD
this cd starts off at a blistering pace with 'i dont know' and 'crazy train' allowing guitarist randy rhodes to showcase his considerable skills. it then begins to slow down and allow you to catch your breath as we continue through a live set of ozzys best tracks from the early years of his solo career and also classic black sabbath songs. if your a lover of ozzy osbournes music then this cd should definitely be in your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Mr Crowley' riding on his 'Crazy Train' 19 Dec 2002
Format:Audio CD
This album encapsulates what Ozzy & Randy were about.
Making great music.
Am not going to discuss the terrible loss the music industry suffered when Randy Rhoads died.
This has to be my favorite of all Ozzy (et al)'s albums.
Not only does it have 'Paranoid' and 'Iron Man', but my two favorites 'Crazy Train' and 'Mr Crowley'.
The solo by Randy at the end of Mr Crowley proves what a genius he was & what great songs the two wrote.
Would be 100 stars if possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album 12 Aug 2002
Format:Audio CD
put simply, this is a great album for anyone who likes the songs from diary of a madman or blizzard of oz (this is a live album taken from a tour after the second of the two of those albums, diary of a madman). It includes all of ozzy's best songs from those albums, with a fantastic guitar solo by randy rhoads at the end of suicide solution, and a not-quite-so-good-but-still-good drum solo at the end of steal away (the night). The only improvement would have been if it had some newer stuff, but you casnt have everything !
