Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Let's admit it right away, The Tribe may just be the best kids' TV show ever. To be precise, it's for older children and teenagers (and their parents will find it insightful, too), the very age group that occupies all the roles in this post-apocalyptic tale. Mixing the scenario of Lord of the Flies (except there are, y'know, girls in it as well) with the visual imagery of Mad Max and the angst-ridden psychodrama of Sweet Valley High, The Tribe tells of a near-future in which the world's adult population has been wiped out by a virus. Of course, society's infrastructure has gone, too, so the youthful survivors not only have to deal with all the usual trials and tribulations of childhood and adolescence but must also develop some form of functioning society of their own, without any form of adult intervention and with only the barest amount of technology. What happens, of course, is that all the social ills of the old world, from bullying to teenage pregnancy, are writ 10 times larger in the new. The ways in which the characters cope (or fail to cope) with these issues are both exasperating and deeply moving. --Roger Thomas

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing else deserves 5 stars compared to this video., 26 Mar 2002
By Apple NdiB (Apple@ndib.fsnet.co.uk) (Witney, Oxfordshire, England) - See all my reviews
It's highly unlikely that they'll ever show series one again on channel 5, so this is the perfect opportunity to see the early episodes of this, my very favourite TV show. It has none of the colour of the more recent episodes, and the budget is evidently far more restricted, but there is something about the first series that puts it head and shoulders above the other series'. To hear Rosalin J singing the dream must stay alive at the end of every episode is an extremely powerful experience. To see all the old characters before the clones started to appear, to witness the opening scenes of what has become a very popular show, these are the elements that should be relived time and time again. Since the first time I saw the Tribe, episode 3 series one first time round way back in may 1999, it has risen to the top of my favourite TV shows and has become far more than any other TV show ever could. Until cloud 9 can recapture the pace of the early episodes, something they seem to be doing half way through series 4, There will be nothing like it again.

I strongly recommend anyone who hasn't yet seen the original series to purchase this video. And for that matter episodes 5-8, this is what I, and anyone else who has been watching this supreme programme consider to be the Tribe. Without them you can never truly understand what I am harping on about, Why I see it from the perspective that I do. Believe me. Nothing even comes close. to give it 5 stars alone is truly an insult to the way I see it now. no amount of stars can summarise the beauty of the dark, brooding, enigmatic episodes that started it all off.

Thank you cloud 9 for distributing this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Tribe is the best, most addictive show on Earth..., 2 Jan 2002
By A Customer
The Tribe is a Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Drama/Action-Adventure half hour television show by Entercloud 9, filmed in the same country as the ever popular Xena: Warrior Princess.(NOTE: Show is nothing like Xena) The Tribe is about a modern world in which the entire known human adult population of Earth has been killed by a virus. Now only kids and teens roam the Earth lands with only one rule, survival. This show is nothing like Lord of the Flies or Girl Who Owned a City. This show is something new, fresh, original, never before done or seen with an amazing, addicting atmosphere. It is realistic and in your face. The Tribe is outgoing, intense, suspenseful, and does not beat around the bush in detail of what a world would be like without adults. The setting is a New York style city that expands to nature like settings as well. A tribe called the Mall Rats, the protagonists, live inside a small mall within the city. The Mall Rats survive through various situations and antagonists. The show has various plots, some going way deeper than others. The storylines and plots expand with no limits. The Tribe is literally, in all seriousness, as addicting, if not more, as/than nico.
