Tribe of Gypsies is one amazingly hot band! 2 Sep 1999
By Jeff Finder (stickman@autobahn.org) - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The first time I heard these guys, I was driving through Oakland and "Landslide" played on the radio. I couldn't believe my ears! It took me months to track down this band; it's a crime they aren't already famous. Great musicianship, good songwriting and lyrics that actually have something to say, all with a great latin beat and the amazing guitar work of Roy Z. He has the technical brilliance of Al DiMeola combined with the soulfulness of Carlos Santana. Hands down, T.O.G. is the best undiscovered band in the land.

Tribe Of Gypsies Home Grown Rock And Roll 8 Oct 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Los Angeles based band, Tribe Of Gypsies, features guitarist extraordinaire, Roy Z.(guitar player also for Bruce Dickinson)and if you like your hard rock music with a dash of Latin flavor, then the band's self-titled debut release is just what the doctor ordered. Listening to Tribe Of Gypsies will remind many of bands like, Santana, Azteca or Malo, but what seperates the Tribe Of Gypsies from these bands is in the way they deliever their music. They've combined the rock music of '80's and given it the angst of the '90's.With songs like, "En Mi Barrio", an anthmetic rocker that will definitely get your adrenaline pumping and "We All Bleed Red", with its hypnotic groove and a dazzling display of guitar licks by Roy Z. After getting rave review by playing the local L.A. scene, Tribe Of Gypsies are ready to let the world hear how good they really are.
TOG's best 23 Dec 2009
By Stephen Cho - Published on Amazon.com

This is the second time I am buying this album. I bought it many years ago but somehow the CD has disappeared. Anyway, like many, I came to know about the Tribe through "The" Bruce Dickinson. I really liked Roy Z as a guitarist and Shay Baby's production from the "Balls to Picasso" album by Bruce, so one day I decided to order this album. I was blown away by it and it is still my favorite album. This is the Tribe's 1st album and their best album. Since this album, the band has become more musically refined and the production has become more technically refined but at the cost of emotion, feeling, soul, and creativity. Their has been a lot of turnover with this band over the years and today's TOG are missing 2 key members: Dean Ortega and Shay Baby. Dean has an amazing voice and he has the rare gift of communicating genuine passion and emotion through his singing. Roy has a tendency to be too robotic and Dean's presence was the perfect contrast. I wish they would never have separated.
