3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I expected! 11 July 2002
By M. Harrison VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Given E-Smoove's filthy acapella mix of Paul Johnson's Be With You, I expected this to be more housey than it is. I guess the clue was in the title: that 'tribal' is there for a reason. It's quite dark and Chicago-ey, and the porn-laden vocals, whilst great fun, don't turn this into a house record. Which is either good news or bad news, depending on your musical persuasion. As for me, I was a leetle disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dis Ai Like! 28 Sep 2002
By Eric-k - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
What a form! This is what I call "Inteligent house music" producet with much love. Starting from first 2 da last track, I just can`t stop moovin! It has everything, from dark tech-house and some deep progressive sounds, to the finest classic house tracks all put together in very nice selection. I remember the first bootleg of "Welcome to the jungle" before two year and it just makes me dance till I drop. + The material that came to me was on double LP and it has 2 BONUS tracks "Wet" and "Theme".
Basicly the best house album in last 6 months.
!!! E-Smoove, ... baah ...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good tribal album, but it could have been so much more. 3 May 2006
By Phas3Sh1ft - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
For some reason, tribal house/trance/techno hasn't been too popular, despite many rave reviews from many people. This album is a great tribal album, yet it seems lacking. Being a huge tribal fan (and a DJ who spins some tribal when I can), I was salivating at the chance to get more music of this genre. Although it is said to be music to do the dirty to, it's not as good as Marvin Gaye, Barry White, or Isaac Hayes because at times it's just too crass (lyrics like "I want to f*ck you in the ass" or "You like it long, you like it hard, you like it dark"). Provided that it's supposed to be for sex, it should be a little more subtle and less overt with its messages (for instance, in "Orgasm" there is a woman crying out in extacy- why do I need to hear this coming from my stereo when I'm having sex?)

With that point aside, let's talk about the musical content- most of the album sounds the same. I feel like it starts out strong ("Touch the Sky" was definately my favorite track), but tapers off near the middle and by the end it just turns into mindless, bass heavy music. Many of the female vocals that appear in the middle of the album don't sound like they belong- this is supposed to be tribal house, not vocal trance. And in the end I feel that it could have been so much better than it was.

I would tentatively recommend this album. If you are a fan of tribal house, then this is a good addition to your music library, but I am hesitant to recommend this album to anyone who isn't really into tribal. If you are looking to buy a tribal album and you're not into tribal, I would look elsewhere than this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars E-Smoove has seduced me! 16 Aug 2002
By The God - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
For those people who love the house sound of Erick Morillo as much as I do, we are blessed on this CD with the talents of one of his protégés Thick Dick a.k.a. E-Smoove. Not only did E-Smoove put together a very nice compilation but he also wrote and produced all the tracks. I suspect we'll hear more from E-Smoove in the future.
For starters let me state this is not a CD for minors. The language is very mature and there are many sexual references. This kind of sexually charged house music is of great interest to me and is just the thing to get a party hyped up. The beats are deep and the mixing is excellent. Usually when an artist puts together a compilation of his own stuff, it's usually in track form without being mixed. E-Smoove continues to demonstrate his genius by mixing the cuts together into an incredible set. You get a total of 65+ minutes of original house music from one I imagine will be a big contributor to the house music scene for years to come. The combination of tribal and deep house on this CD creates an excellent music selection and the arrangement of the tracks is also top notch. The set starts off nice and ends just as well. Some of these tracks you've probably heard before, but now you'll know and be able to appreciate the mastermind behind them.
My cuts of choice are "Touch The Sky", "Welcome 2 The Jungle", "Dark", "Orgasm", "Bounce", and "Mind F..k." E-Smoove is a skilled technician as well as creator and couldn't have a better mentor than "More" Morillo. This is a no-brainer 5 star CD and I hope this is the first of many more from Thick Dick. I've been seduced by "Tribal Seduction" and I'm sure you'll be too.

short review: MUSIC FOR SEX.

longer review: I just wanna thank Mr. Morillo for creating this disc to get busy by. From beginning to end it is filled with bass heavy, mind numbing, sexy-ass beats. I HIGHLY recommend this to those who like doing the deed to fast paced music. Oh yeah, it is a fantastic listen even without the whole sex thing. Good driving music as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sex Music 22 Jan 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is basically background music for sex. Excellently produced and mixed, E-Smoove never loses sight of the album's direction, ie. sexual arousal. Heavy bass, juicy, persistent tribal rhythms, some live sex thrown in; what more do you want? Like he says on one of the tracks, it is 'highly contagious.'
