4.0 out of 5 stars Book one of the "Witches Knot" series 4 Aug 2006
By Book Addict TOP 500 REVIEWER
"Triad" is the first book in Lauren Dane's "Witches Knot" series. In 1773 Annalisa Charvez, a gifted healer and practicing witch, stumbled upon a being of goodness under attack by a demon lord. Assisting the angel in its battle ensured victory and defeated, the demon agreed to a pact; until the extinction of the Charvez line, each generation of females would be born with gifts enabling them to protect the inhabitants of the city they reside in. One protector of each generation would be born, a Witch Dreamer, a powerful witch able to wield her magic both in the waking world, inside her own dreams and in the minds of others.

In modern day New Orleans, Amelia (Lee) Charvez is her generations Witch Dreamer, the most powerful to be born in seven generations. Haunted by her dreams of a golden haired man, when she finally bumps into him she knows instantly they are destined to be together. Ok some people may have issues knowing that the man they love is a vampire; however Lee takes it well in her stride and finds herself married to Aidan within days of meeting him. At last feeling complete, both she and Aidan are left in turmoil when she meets Alex, a powerful wizard and Aidan's best friend. Their attraction is immediate; yet the pair love Aidan too deeply to act upon their mutual feelings until Lee's Grandmother (a gifted clairvoyant) informs them they are destined to form a "Triad". Only their combined strength will defeat not only an ancient blood mage intent on making Lee his Dark Queen, but also the demon lord who made the original pact and now wants it destroyed, an act which would result in the Charvez women losing their magic and put countless innocents in danger.

"Triad" is a mind blowing erotic read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful story 2 Nov 2011
Triad is a story written on a very fascinating premise. But one thing for sure is that this eerily curious but fascinating story strikes a chord with its target readership. I decided to read it out of curiosity and was not disappointed. Lauren crafted a well-observed story with an amazing story line. The smooth flow of the story pulled me in right away from the opening chapters to the end, by the right choice of words, effective dialogue and great descriptive strength. The plot is laid out in a timely manner, and brought out the suspense masterfully. This is not a genre I read often, but I enjoyed this story. My friend put me to this story, The Verdict of Hades, and The Usurper and Others. He was very right about what he said. Good story. I will keep an eye on other Lauren Dane stories. Overall, it is a well-written.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 28 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Being a Lauren Dane fan I had high hopes for this series. Sadly I am hugely disappointed. It feels rather like a child playing dress up in her mothers clothes and playing at being an adult.
It could have been so much more as the basic storyline is solid and should draw the reader in with little effort however, even the sexual scenes lose their edge and heat because of the galloping pace and blase way in which it is written.
Gone is the "pants on fire" edge that sets Ms Dane apart from other authors. Its rather like a practice run for some future book. Sorry, but what more can I say other than "can I have my money back?"

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting story 4 Jan 2010
I enjoyed the storyline, although I felt that a little more background to the characters would have been helpful. I intend to read the other books in the series at some point.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Twist on a Familiar Plot 5 Dec 2005
By K. Montgomery - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Holy smokes! Someone put me out! This book was steamy - to say the least. Lauren Dane adds her own interesting twist to not only the menage scene, but also the magical world of witches, vampires and other parallel universe must-haves. The highest compliment I can think to give Ms. Dane at this point is that I'm sorry Amazon doesn't have any of her other books available in print - or that Ellora's Cave is so slow to produce paperbacks. I'll go ahead and say up front that there were some parts I wasn't happy with, but I still enjoyed the book and was pleased that I got it.

Lee Charvez comes from a long line of witches sworn to protect New Orleans and its people from evil encroachers. They are no oridinary witches though. Lee, her mother and her aunt Elise are witch dreamers, their magic is the most powerful and important of all. Lee just happens to be the most powerful and talented witch dreamer her family has ever produced. When she encounters an evil stronger than anything she's ever felt, at her mother and aunt's urging, she works to strengthen her magical skills in order to fight the evil off. In her dreams she encounters two men. One is Aiden, an ancient vampire that also dreamed of Lee and knows she is his one true mate. He moves to New Orleans to find her, and Lee and he fall in love. The other man is Alex, a powerful sorcerer from Chicago who is also meant to be with Lee. Alez also happens to be a close friend of Aiden and soon the three are emeshed in a relationship that is destined to save not only Lee's life, but that of everyone in New Orleans. The evil that Lee has been preparing for is ready to take her - and everything else in its path. But, just when you think you've pegged the story, Dane goes and throws in other elements you may not have been expecting.

This story was riveting from the first page. I couldn't wait to pick it back up each time and continue the story (If I had had the time, I'd not have put it down till I was done!). Lauren Dane took the effort to write sensually steamy love scenes as well as a well-thought out plot. My only problem was that at times, some of it seemed a little contrived. For example, when Lee meets Aiden for the first time, it's just "wham" and they are together. There's no working toward a relationship with them, they're were just not together one minute and together the next. Kind of abrupt. It's the same way with Alex. Readers will realize that he has a key role in the book, but again, "wham", there he is and then the next thing you know, he's intimately involved in their relationship. Yes, the story gives a reason for their quick hook-ups, but I like to see a little more effort when working towards total happiness in these books. Maybe one could look at it as confidence on the part of Lee's character. She's dreamed about these men, therefore she knows what's coming and that's that....Still, I'd like to have seen a little more conflict between the main characters.

All in all, it was an interesting read and I can't wait to read the next book. There's a very obvious plug for the next story in the epilouge, so get it cranking Ms. Dane! You've got some hungry readers out here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot & Steamy with lots of action. 1 Jan 2006
By chic lit - Published on
Summary: Witches, vampires, & wizards. This is the first book in this series. Lee Charvez meets the man of her dreams. She is a witch and he is a vampire..Throw in a old friend who's a wizard and we have a triad... Aidan is the vampire who makes sweet love to her. Alex is the wizard with a very demanding sexual appetite (BDSM). You will have to read the book to figure out how they begin sharing Lee. Too bad these three can't enjoy there new found loves because there is a nasty demon out to kidnap Lee and make her for his very own and destroy her family.

Very believable characters and story line.

After I read this book I went straight to Ellora's Cave and purchased the next in the series ( A TOUCH A FAE) which is a e-book and read that straight through..

Lots of action, sex and more sex....

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Writer 16 Nov 2006
By boogiebev - Published on
This book was a lot of fun. Of course you have to suspend disbelief to accept the situation but that's why it's called fiction. The New Orleans setting gives it the proper atmosphere to carry the story along. I do think that one reviewer who panned it, should look to their own mispellings and grammatical errors before they point a finger at an author.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, just a bit boring 16 July 2006
By K. Burton - Published on
I was excited when I saw this book on my Amazon recommendations. How could I not love a story about a vampire, a witch and a warlock? However, I found I didn't much care about the characters, the sex was only mediocre and the plot never pulled me in enough that I cared to finish the book. It wasn't a bad book, it just did nothing for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Story, overdone sex and the writing needs help.... but 18 Dec 2011
By Douglas C. Meeks - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well I finished Triad (Witches Knot, Book One) and really have a hard time writing the review. It was a good story and she carried it off pretty well except that the story was borderline literary porn in part, anytime they were not in danger they were about to have sex, having sex, or just finished having sex (get the picture). Add in the triad (yep, that's more than just the title) and you have a interesting story surrounded by a erotic 3 some (1 witch, 1 vampire, 1 wizard) . I will have to just give it 3 Stars because the POV changed erratically in places and you had to back up to figure who was talking/narrating . It WAS entertaining in spite of the sex (not because of it) and with a bit more writing skill could have been a better book but if you are in the mood for something paranormal that involves a lot of sex scenes , this IS the book :) I repeat the story actually is pretty good (why do I feel like I just told somebody I read Playboy for the articles).
