I completed my undergraduate degree and PhD at the University of Cambridge. I moved to the University of Dundee in 1996 from the University of Warwick. I hold a Personal Chair in Cognitive Psychology and am currently Head of the School of Psychology at the University of Dundee. I am a Chartered Psychologist. You can find out more about me at my website: www.trevorharley.com. My main research interests are in normal and pathological speech production, the effects of ageing on cognition, and the science of self-improvement. I am author of a number of books on the psychology of language and a novel, Dirty old rascal. You can find out more about works in development at my website. I live in the countryside outside Dundee with a large number of tame blackbirds who have learnt to sit on my windowsill and tap the glass to attract my attention until I feed them sultanas (they prefer organic).
In addition to writing I'm a keen but very lazy photographer; you can find me on Flickr as precambrianman. You can read my blog about writing, psychology, consciousness raising, and being famous at http://www.trevorharley.com/trevorharley/Blog/Blog.html. I'm keen on music and would jump at the chance to present Breakfast on Radio 3.
I welcome feedback from readers, both positive and negative, and would love suggestions on how to make my work better. Please comment on the books on Amazon, or email me at t.a.harley@dundee.ac.uk. I'd like to thank anyone who has ever bought any of my books; I hope you enjoyed reading them nearly as much as I've enjoyed writing them.
