Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
Not exactly one of our best buys, though the low rating is probably unfair because it's based on our naive expectation that we'd get better quality (despite the price). It is small and the advertised picture is deceptive.
The image is not really usable: for practical use, educational value, or even as a toy.
The stand doesn't do anything useful.
The eyepiece came out at the first use (within the tube), resulting in the need to force open the tube to fit the eyepiece back in.
My son has had a few minutes fun - opening the present and a minute or two of trying to see something before getting bored.
... I suppose it is nice and shiny, and looks good on his window sill.

Short story: you're getting what you pay for.

useless piece of junk 3 April 2009

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
My son was given this on this birthday by well meaning friends - unfortunately it doesnt focus on any objects, it is flimsily made, an utter waste of money. It will be going on a trip to the school jumble sale soon. I should really throw it in the bin.

I know that this is a penny short of ten pounds.
I know that you get what you pay for.
However, this is unusable.
How sad that National Geographic seem to endorse it.
Very, very poor.
