As other reviewers have said, this kit is appallingly bad value for money. Perhaps other people have better-stocked kitchen cupboards than us, but we found there was only one experiment in the book that we could do without purchasing other items. (And it's not the extra expense I mind so much as my son's disappointment when we opened up the kit expecting a fun afternoon and realised there was almost nothing we could do.) It didn't help that two items that are meant to be in the kit were missing from ours.
If your child is interested in science, I would recommend buying one of the many books of experiments to do at home (Usborne do a couple) and assembling the equipment and 'ingredients' yourself, since that's what you have to do with this kit anyway.

Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about, I came onto site to buy another blast lab kit because my god-daughter loves the messy mess one. These 'masses of things' that you have to buy and therefore double the price of the toy is rubbish, they are things you have in the house already (virtually all) like glue, water, cornflour, lemon juice pepper, washing up liquid etc.....I think that's the whole point of the kit, they are learning science using household stuff!? Making it accessible and 'real'. Judging by Zoe, it's a first class item!

well in theory this toy is great fun for children. however you NEED TO BUY ALOT of the materials needed. and when we opened our box the glycerol was missing, took product back, and the store opened all their boxes on shelf, to fins the same item missing. when i rang the products customer service number on bottom of pack i got the following response: i am so sorry to hear thet, we have never had this problem before, goto "website" and BUY it from here..... i was disgusted!!!!! my daughter bought this out of her birthday money, and they couldn't even send a good will gesture? on a whole, i suggest avoid this product, as all the experimants can be found online. YOUR BUYING THE BOOK, NOT the experiments!

I always think of Richard Hammond as a decent, down to earth, honest sort of chap. So, why is he endorsing this very poor product? For staters, it is very poor value for money. Read more
