Synopsis

Burt Gummer has been away from home too long. Upon returning to Perfection, Nevada, he realizes that the town of terror has been turned into a tourist trap exploiting the town's reputation as the home of giant killer sand worms. When a simulated attack becomes the real thing, Gummer dons combat gear, loads of ammo and weaponry, and his Atlanta Hawks cap to go back into battle against the very creatures that originally drove him away. Not only does he have to deal with Graboids mutating into the frightening Shrieker monsters, but this time a new, possibly indestructible worm mutation is threatening. Michael Gross reprises his role as the gruff Gummer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tremors 3: Back To Perfection DVD!, 11 Oct 2003
By Tom Merrill (Worksop, Notts United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This is the second sequel in the Tremors franchise. But was it as good as the original and the first sequel?

Well I personally felt the Tremors 3 was the poorest of all the movies (don't get me wrong, I love it, but if I had to pick one of the three to be my least favourite, this would be it). The reason for this is the CGI creature effects that were used in the movie. They don't have a very realistic feel to them and don't interact with the actors very well. There are some scenes where it is obvious that the actors are starring into space, and the creatures were dubbed on afterwards.

Now after that little moan, let's look at the good points to the movie. If you enjoyed the original movie and the first sequel, there's no reason why you won't like this, because it still remains true to the storylines. The film is also quite family friendly, with very little bad language and the violence is very moderated, not over done. So be happy to show this one to the kids, rather than the original which was a little more risky for young eyes and ears!

The idea of returning to Perfection to see the town after the first Graboid attack 11 years ago works really well. It's good to see how things have changed, as well as to see characters returning from the original movie.

The DVD comes with a nice Spotlight On Location featurette which gives a good look behind the scenes at how a few of the stunts were done etc. I always enjoy seeing a 'Making Of' after watching a film.

4.0 out of 5 stars Third in series lives up to its name, 16 Dec 2002
In 1990 we had Tremors, in 1995 we had Tremors 2: Aftershocks, and now we have Tremors 3: Back to Perfection.
In Tremors 3 we are re-united with Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) as he ruthlessly annhialates a flock of Shriekers. Burt returns to Perfection (the location for Tremors 1) where familiar faces from the first film reappear. A Graboid situation quickly develops, soon evolves into a Shrieker situation and then... (well you have to buy the film to find out)
Similar to the first two this is a wonderful B-movie-style film which will keep you entertained many times over. The performances are all excellent, and the set-pieces work brilliantly.
On the downside neither Kevin Bacon or Fred Ward (from the first two films) appear, though Michael Gross does make up for this with some great one-liners. Equally, I'd suggest watching the first two films in this series to get maximum enjoyment out of this one. The only other downside was some poor CGI on the original Graboids that was slightly dissapointing
Overall, there is little else I can say, if you've seen Tremors 1 or 2 and liked them you'll love this. If you like any low-budget monster-flicks, you will definitely love this film.
Thanks for reading, and I urge you to buy this movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lo and behold- a third outing!, 24 Feb 2005
This is magical. a film i saw in patches as a kid and i loved every minute of as a teenager has a third run-in. brilliant!

Although the new concept here is brilliant- again the idea of underground monsters is kind of dead-end- this is undoubtly the weakest link in the trilogy. thankfully most of the original cast are here- bacon and ward have moved on, which leaves the REAL star- Burt Gumer- to take center stage with his vast array of weapons to blow seven bags of **** out of the buggers!

a must see for fans, definetly worth a purchase, but not as good as the first two
