I got this book off the shelf at work and was mainy attracted to it because of the cover (sad, but true). The edition in print in Aus had a mermaid on the cover with long, flowing red hair and was seductively covered by her tail and to be honest the cover and the blurb intrigued me so much that I bought it on the spot without checking out the amazon reviews. I originally thought that this was published under another name in the US but Quiver has different stories in it so I am presuming that one or the other is a sequel of sorts.
Tremble is a collection of short stories about the mythical and the sinister- outlandishly erotic fairytales for adults. I had no idea just how...pornographic? (perhaps a bit to strong but that is all I can think of)this work was and probably would have viewed my purchase with a more critical eye had I known. Oh well. The plots were (for me at least) original and strangely entertaining in content at times and very engaging-I found that even though at times I was highly disgusted at what I was reading, I could not put the book down. I developed a compulsion to finish the book- so to speak.
All in all, I would not reccommend this book as an introduction for any reader into the brilliance of Tobsha Learner- try Soul if you would like to see her at her finest. But having said that, this book is entertaining and written with the same detail and fluidity as her other works.
