I bought this after trying the Gelert Mini Hammock which, although it very lightweight, was a little constrictive. The Gelert was great for children or people with smaller frames but it collapses in on itself and feels a bit constrictive for me.
The Expedition Hammock was significantly more comfortable and very spacious compared to the Gelert. Laying diagonally is possible on this hammock which allows for a slightly flatter, more comfortable hang. I've used this perhaps 3 times since purchase and it's easy to put up and feels sturdy. There's less give and stretch than a net hammock such as the Gelert. It packs away tightly, relatively lightweight and easy enough to put up with the right knots, tension and supports.
My only complaint with the purchase would be with the rope that comes with the hammock which you use to secure the hammock to trees/posts. It's plenty strong enough but it's made out of some very cheap nylon/plastic. Under strain, even quick-release knots and slippery hitches experience massive amounts of internal friction and melt internally as a result. This leaves you with a VERY tight knot which has essentially melted fast and hardened, making it impossible to untie without a sharp knife! There's also a little fraying/melting on the sling itself where the nylon cords attach to the sling, but I haven't noticed this to worsen over additional usage. Maybe it's a bedding-in occurrence? Personally, I'd much prefer to see the rope omitted from the product and the price lowered or superior rope and a higher price.
I'd still recommend this hammock, but chuck the rope that comes with it. I want to give this 4 stars but for the low price and quick delivery, I can't complain. 5 stars.
