We bought this LP thinking it would be along the same lines as LP's other trekking guides (Patagonian Andes, Central Andes etc - all of which I think are very good). Sadly this book is just a bit of a 'hash' of other chapters from other books, many of which are very out of date (book says it is published 2011 I think but some chapters are from 2004 other publications). The other main drawback of this book (which caused us to send it back) was that the text/pictures only take up a very small amount of each page in the centre and there are HUGE blank borders around every page - ie tiny writing and very unclear maps, but heavy weight of book. Sadly LP have not got it right with this particular book.

If you are just planning on going to Peru, I would recommend buying only Lonely Planet Peru. That has all you need. A lot of content overlaps between the two books.
