Treefight For Sunlight are a young four-piece band from Denmark.
Their eponymous debut album is a bright and breezy affair.
More than a little has already been made of their psychedelic
West Coast sonic affiliations but given that they are too young
to remember the Summer Of Love (there is a fair chance that their
parents are too young to remember it too!) they have had to dig
deep into their imaginations to conjure a little of the feeling
of those times. The results are entertaining and often delightful.
There are ten tracks in the collection. The songs have strong tunes,
complex arrangements and are saturated with luminous vocal harmonies.
This gift for polophony is their strongest asset.
Take the perfectly-formed 'Riddles In Rhyme' with its vertiginous
soaring and swooping melody and the beautifully constructed song
'The Universe Is A Woman' for immediate evidence of their tehcnical
skill and prodigious compositional prowess. The big belting beats
of final track 'Time Stretcher', however, delivers their finest
moment. It is a big-boned, warm-hearted anthem to rank alongside
the very best eruptions into the listening world so-far this year.
A stunning first showing from a bright new band with a promising future.
