    Product Description

    Product Description

Trees grow by rules and those rules are almost universal. Understand those rules (which are simple once they are pointed out to you), and you understand how trees are designed to grow into the shapes and structures that you see and how that same structure designs how a tree gradually ages and eventually dies. This book explains those rules in plain English and then goes much further.

When you chance across somebody who has immersed themselves in a profession over a long period but maintained their interest by researching and innovating new and innovative but always practically applicable and efficient solutions, you should listen to what they have to say. That is especially so when the subject matter is something as familiar and as universal as Trees.

The Tree Morphogenesis Project is the culmination of a career in Arboriculture that delivers new insights about a fundamental organizing principle of almost all woody plants.

The insights in this book can literally change the way that you look at trees AND change the way that you see trees but this book also contains insights that are absolutely applicable to the management of your trees wherever you may be in the world.

Tree Morphogenesis Book 1 – Reduction Via Thinning Theory (the first of a series of books) is intended for tree owners who want to understand their own trees and want to specify their own tree care but it will also appeal to anybody involved in Arboriculture or Horticultural industries.

The tree care methodologies, illustrated with case histories, probably represent the most sympathetic form of tree care so far defined and described.

This book will start to breakdown the gulf of misconceptions that have evolved between people and trees and does so by reintroducing the reader to things that they already know as well as many things that you will not know. It will help you to avoid wasting money on less than sympathetic tree management and will place the future of your trees in your own hands (even if you use a contractor for the dangerous bits).

Trees gave the author a career which enabled him to raise his family for which he feels profoundly indebted to trees. This book is one way that he is starting to repay that debt.

4.0 out of 5 stars A new way of looking at tree management 9 Mar. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book advocates a more natural solution to tree pruning than the usual 'Marie Antoinette' approach that produces decapitated trees that have little chance of making good recovery growth or even surviving.

    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Felt a bit guilty about the rough tree pruning done in our orchard the last couple of years, but their appearance and load of fruit this year reassured me that the damage is not permanent.
This book gave me the insight to what we did and how nature has compensated. We also know better now how to manage our trees.
David Lloyd-Jones writes in a very personal inspirational style, which captures your attention. His technical/scientific explanations are helpful.
This book is useful to anyone who is responsible for trees in the garden or if you work with trees on a larger scale (farm, park and so on).

    5.0 out of 5 stars Tree Morphogenesis Book 1 17 Jan. 2014
    By AndrewR
    Format:Kindle Edition
I had a problem with the height of some trees in my garden and two tree surgeons I consulted said they wouldn't take on any reduction work to the height of the trees but could only offer canopy lifting, which wasn't my problem as I didn't need more height under the trees. So I searched on the internet and found David Lloyd-Jones Kindle book, which addressed my problem and offered a method of reducing the height of the trees while retaining their natural look and shape, which was exactly what I wanted. The book is aimed at informing tree owners about their trees so they can make more appropriate decisions and instruct their tree surgeon accordingly. It is a great relief to know that when my trees reach a height where I and my neighbours feel they have outgrown our garden I can now take steps to reduce them back to a height and shape that they had 5 or 10 years ago, instead of finding someone to simply cut the tops off, which leaves the tree looking like a loo brush with the new prolific growth that results, or else felling the trees and having to start again from scratch with new saplings as well as losing the privacy that our trees provide while they take time to grow again. If you only buy one book on trees I would recommend that this is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to Care For Trees 28 Aug. 2013
By Thordur - Published on Amazon.com
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked how this book was easy and entertaining to read and this is a book about tress, lol, it was pleasant surprise how entertaining and personal this book is by David, he is The TREE MAN.

To describe in few words what this book is about and for who then I would it is intended for people who want to start growing trees and for tree owners who want to understand their own trees and want to specify their own tree care.

So with that said if you want to understand how trees are designed to grow into the shapes and structures and hpw to grow tress in the right way then this book is MUST READ!

Since it explains those rules in easy to understand.

    I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn how your trees grow 11 Jan. 2014
By Homesteader - Published on Amazon.com
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got this as an Amazon freebie, but it's well worth the going price of $2.99. The author writes from 28 years of experience, and his explanations of how trees gain their shapes has a much broader audience than those he's writing for (arborists and people planning on hiring arborists). If you're starting an orchard of fruit trees or managing a woodlot, you'll still get something out of this dense but intense book.

Note to the author --- maybe you'd write a book just for fruit tree growers at a later time?
5.0 out of 5 stars The little voice 3 Jan. 2014

This book helped give dialogue to feelings evoked by tree presence so as to make it easier to share and awaken for my colleagues and clients. The little voice is instinct and is like finding part of yourself. Savor!

Long winded life story without material. Just a light dose crown reduction work, that all.
