Book Description

7 Mar 2006
There are two types of angels. There are those with wings, and those with leaves. For thousands of years, those seeking advice or wanting to give thanks to Mother Nature have walked the well-trodden path into the sacred woodland grove. Because today, sacred groves have become scarcer, and even single trees of great age in a tranquil spot are hard to find when we need them, we present this "Tree Oracle" to bring the tree angels closer to us once more. Briefly, "The Tree Angel Oracle" consists of 36 illustrated cards, with written guidance, in book form, to accompany the cards. Each card depicts a particular species of tree. Through the illustrations, the tree angels become visually present. But, if we can come to stillness, the magic of the cards can move us so deeply that we may feel the tree angels themselves. In the accompanying text, sound folklore wisdom and esoteric tradition fuse with a deep inner understanding of the different species of trees. We are given a clear reflection of the blessing being sent to us by the individual tree angel. Experiencing the angelic spirits through "The Tree Angel Oracle" can enrich our lives and help us to rediscover our true connection to trees.

About the Author

Fred Hageneder, born in 1962 in Hamburg, Germany, has been passionately studying trees for more than twenty years, in conjunction with comparative religion, cultural history, mythology and archaeology. His extensive study of ethno-botany led to the publication of two books, "The Spirit of Trees - Science, Symbiosis and Inspiration", bridging natural science, myth, history, and the fine arts, and "The Heritage of Trees - History, Culture and Symbolism", a deep survey of the role trees play in culture and religion. So far, his work has been translated into German, Italian and Czech. The English/American editions were released in 2000 and 2001 by Floris Books, Edinburgh. "The Living Wisdom of Trees", a major publication on tree culture and myths around the globe has just (August 2005) been released by Duncan Baird, London. Fred lives in the Cotswolds and is a musician (harp), painter, graphic designer and lecturer in ethno-botany. He is a founding member and the chairman of the Friends of the Trees, a charity to re-establish sacred groves on the British Isles and to protect ancient trees, particularly yews. 5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful book and card set 9 July 2009
Format:Paperback
I do card readings using a variety of cards. This set has been beautifully and knowledgeably created by someone who clearly loves his subject, takes a deep responsibility for his writings and was willing to step forward to create these when he realised no-one else was going to. 'Live your name' he says, how apt and I am learning to live mine, my name meaning Birch in the Irish Celt alphabet. Lovely quality card has been used too which adds to the grace of this set. The artwork is equally fabulous and full of mischief. If you love trees, find yourself drawn to them and want to understand the message they bring us all then I recommend you buy.

This is a wonderful tool to learn about trees and to use for divination. The art work is amazing and Fred's insights give a wonderfully sensitive side to the trees. If you love trees this is a great product to use
