After closing a case as primary Detective Peabody is on a roll and excited for more. But when she overhears two cops talking about illegal activities and murder she is shocked.
Lieutenant Eve Dallas is furious when she learns what Peabody overheard because she hates nothing more than cops who misuse their power to steal and kill. Together with the cops she trusts and her husband Roarke Eve will do everything in her power to end the reign of the dirty cops.

"Treachery in Death" is a classic how to get the bad guys story and I enjoyed that it was not as emotional as some of the other books in the In Death series. I liked that the book concentrated on Eve and her team's investigation. I loved seeing them work together and especially how Eve handled the dirty cops was awesome.
Furthermore I liked that we got to see more of Webster and I was happy to read what happened in his life. I also liked the interactions between him and Eve. The investigation of the case showed all the reasons why Eve is such a great cop. She is honest, wears her badge with pride, she doesn't misuse her position and does everything in her power to solve her cases.
I loved the scenes in which Eve manipulated the bad guys and especially their leader. And I enjoyed the interactions between Whitney and Eve and how the commander handled the dirty cops and always supported Eve. As always I also enjoyed the lighter moments of the story, for example a quarrel between Eve and Roarke and a hilarious situation in which Eve has to watch over baby Belle (so cute and made me laugh out loud).
Even after so many parts in this series I'm always super excited to read the next book because the stories still are fascinating and feel fresh.

This story follows on from closing a case........well written and more growth and expansion on the ongoing marriage of Eve and Roarke lighter side some funny moments. Overall very well written as with the rest of the series, the books and story lines seem to me to get stronger, more intense and better written!

Another Eve and Roarke story, briefly bringing in some of the secondary characters so that we don't lose touch with them. The storyline is a really strong one, with Peabody discovering a corrupt cop, and Eve and Roarke working to bring her down. Full of action, fast paced, all the normal interaction between the main characters - can't be beaten, just another absolutely brilliant book by J.D. Robb.

Even though I know the In Death Series came from the pen of J.D.Robb to me they are Eve, Roarke, Peabody, Mavis et al.
I know them. I can picture all of them and I can taste the coffee.
I started reading from book 16 then went to the beginning. I read nothing else till I had read them all. I re-read them regularly.
Try them and enjoy a wee bit of futuristic fantasy, a whole lot of varied homicides and have fun putting faces to believable characters.

I never get fed up reading these books. They are all well written and keep you enthralled to the end. Its always fun watching Eve and the gang get their man (or woman). The story-line here was very good and sometimes very moving, involving all the usual characters which us fans have come to love.

In this book they find themselves dealing with corruption amongst the ranks. This enables us to see, more up front, the loyalty Eve inspires from her own team, and that she herself gives to her bosses. It was nice to see this brought to life. We all know which side of the blue line Eve stands on. Its fun to watch those that step over the line get a good ass-kicking from our fav cop.

All-in-all another excellent read and highly recommended to those who have read and enjoyed others in the series. I eagerly await the next installments. Long may they continue.

Excellent. I particularly liked the deepening of the relationship between Eve and Peabody from the immediate support given after the initial shock of Oberman's treachery through to Eve's determination to prove to Peabody the core difference of being a 'good' as opposed to 'bad' cop. Her very reasons for doing her job so well were laid bare and were quite raw in their emotion.

Usual excellent standards. How does she keep writing such complete storylines? She thinks of everything. I do wish a bit more time would pass though.
