I really, really loved the book and the sequel to it (Ho Voglia di Te). I think it has (age-wise) an almost universal appeal (I am 33, so not typical of this book's target readership). After all, it's a love story with a bit of social satyre in the background (bad boy -- rich girl and how their worlds collide when they fall in love).

However, I would say that you'll probably get more out of it if you're Italian. I have not read the book in translation and I don't know how it compares with the original version. Although the love story between Step and Babi is universal, the background against which the book is set is very Italian (adolescents who meet up for nights out in Roman streets, people who live with their parents until they're 30, mopeds and motorbikes that become equivalent to Knights' white horses), and I'm not sure I'd have liked it as much if it hadn't been for the fact that it reminded me so much of my own adolescence in Italy.

I love the character of Step: he has depth (he's rough and romantic at the same time; simple yet troubled). And in the sequel to this book Step grows up and becomes even better!

Buy it. If you're Italian it's a MUST (otherwise you won't understand why all Italian cities seem to have padlocks attached to their street lamps!).

I read this book last summer in just a couple of days. I liked it very much. Maybe it's not the most original plot ever, but is very romantic and enjoyable, especially for teenager readers.

Oh, man! This book is simply amazing! I loved it so much!!I'm Spanish but I discovered it during my hols in Milan. I bought the 2nd part of it called " Ho Voglia di te" which is also fantastic, then discovered there was a 1st book with the same characters which was this one " Tre Metri Sopra il Cielo" and also bought a 3rd book from the same author called "Scusa ma ti chiamo amore" which I am reading now and i cannot stop reading it. Those books are addictive and Federico Moccia is a real artist! So much respect!
"Tre Metri sopra il cielo" is a cult book in Italy, to the point a movie about it was done, and the same happened with the second book. The movies are also great!!! met the actors in Milan while shotting an MTV program...just terrific! I read the Italian version as I prefer to read books in their original language, but I know they have been translated into Spanish, English and German. Anyway If you find this book in any language just buy it, you won't regret it!
