Amazon.co.uk Review

In the summer of 2001, Travis embarked on a rather hectic festival schedule which saw them headlining three huge gigs over the Bank Holiday weekend--the Reading and Leeds Festivals and Glasgow's Gig On The Green. More Than Us--Live in Glasgow is the final of the three shows, and captures them at their best. Coming on the back of the release of their third album The Invisible Band it was inevitable that most of the tracks would be culled from this, including instant favourites "Sing" and "Side", but they do keep a healthy amount of old favourites on the set list as well-"Driftwood", "Writing To Reach You", "All I Want To Do Is Rock" and "Why Does It Always Rain Me". Not that the crowd need winning over--this is a local concert for local people after all. They've come a long way from their humble beginnings as Oasis's favourite support act, so much so that Noel Gallagher is now seen watching from the wings. He looks suitably impressed, as he rightfully should be--this is a great performance from one of Britain's best-loved bands.

On the DVD: The concert is accompanied by a video diary of the band on the road--with footage from their tour bus and backstage at the three gigs. Along with this is a wealth of special features including a great acoustic version of "More Than This" for the Jo Wiley show, which you can set up to be intercut with the concert footage or viewed as a separate film; a special playlist feature, which groups the tracks from the concerts in the order of the albums they come from to give you a chronological guide to Travis live and a full Travis discography. Recorded in Dolby 5.1 along with the option to view the concert from a total of four different angles. --Helen Marquis

Boring? Not likely 3 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Format:DVD
Travis, without question at present THE biggest indie band in Britain, are often accused by the music press of being "dull", "boring" etc. etc.

In reference to their recorded output, this may be (partly at least) true. But when they take to the stage, Travis are a different ball game. Their songs (which is ALL they are about) take on a new dimension when they are being sung back to them by 10,000 Glaswegians.

In addition to this, Fran Healy's voice seems to exude a great deal more emotion in a live setting - perhaps they should take to recording on the road.

This gig, recorded at the Glasgow Green festival this summer, is a wonderful momento of the last 3 years of Travis-mania. The set mainly comprises songs from the two hugely successful albums "The Man Who" and this year's "The Invisible Band".

Despite the fact that the latter is yet to match the sales figures of its predecessor, the songs are certainly not weak - and given that "The Man Who" was still selling over a year after release, it may still meet expectations.

On the strength of the songs, it certainly should. "Flowers In The Window", "Side" and "Pipe Dreams" are probably the standouts on this DVD, whil the more introspective "Humpty Dumpty Love Song" is simply sublime.

This is not forgetting the singalong classics from yesteryear, which are all appear. "Why Does It Always Rain On Me", "Turn" and "Writing To Reach You" in particular are roared to Fran by the crowd.

The encore contains the only real disappointment of the show, Dougie's reading of "All The Young Dudes", but then things are brought to a suitable climax with "Happy", one of only two songs taken from the band's debut album "Good Feeling".

Apart from the gig, there are exerts of the band speaking, which serves to show that they are simply down-to-earth human beings, a rarity whose success you cannot grudge.

A MUST-have for any Travis fan, anyone else best steer clear!

This long awaited video, finally was released to little public recognition. It seemed to sink back out of the video charts as soon as it entered them. But it is a must for any Travis fan or even someone who wants a great music video. This is a live perfromance video, based upon Reading and Leeds 2001 and Glasgow on the Green, both in August 2001. The hype surrounding Travis is surreal, these days wherever you go someones playing their songs. This has tour footage of the band, and a fantastic set list, similar to that of their recent tour, so if you missed out of tickets, then this is definitely worth buying. I was lucky enough to go and see them on tour and this for me, brings back the amaxing buzz that I got. It makes me laugh in places, and makes me cry. More Than Us (a track not featured on the set list, which was dedicated to Jo Wiley at Reading And Leeds) gets me every time. A worthy purchase because it shows just how good this band are live. For anyone stuck in the Invisible band hype, this will show you some of the classic Travis tracks, taken from Good Feeling which truely rock. It does however, take songs from all three of their fantasic albums and gives an insight to life on tour with Travis.

the best live band? 17 Nov 2001
Format:DVD
after watching this on tv (and not taping it!) i realised how brilliant travis are live. when not showing the live songs we go behind the scenes of the concerts and what we get is four VERY funny scottish men(who still get nerves)entertaining us. and then we get the actual live performance which is outstanding, they have such a on stage presence and the songs sound absoloutly brilliant live. this is a must have for any travis fans. i cant wait to see them live next year! buy it!!!
