This 1958 TRAVIATA being too well known to require a new review, I will only alert other Amazon customers that it comes from a source different from that of EMI's inferior tapes. This Myto release has the same superior sonic quality as the Pearl issue (perhaps the same source), though far less expensive than the latter. The only reason I've deducted a star is that, annoyingly enough, the prompter's constant groaning is more ubiquitous here than on EMI. If you don't own a Callas Violetta, this is the recording to have, though I still prefer her 1955 La Scala performance on account of Bastianini's Germont and di Stefano's Alfredo. Let's hope a better source of the Milan recording than the EMI (acceptable sound) surfaces soon.
