Product Description

In the 1970's Stan and his very special weed lead to an adventure that many will wish could happen in reality. A definite fun read for anyone who has ever had the munchies. For those who haven't, Stan's adventures, warping reality and the minds of those who are desperately trying to maintain the status quo, will still be a lot of fun. With Frans Bartels' cartoons of in full 70's colour this is a perfect remedy for the stress of every day life. Escapism Rules! Warning! Reading this book may lead to outbursts of laughter!

Travels With Stan is strictly for people with wicked sense of humour as it has unexpected twists and absurd situations, all described in a dry British way. If you like traveling and dope smoking hippies in funny situations, this is your read! It took me back to places I traveled to myself and gave me a peek in the roaring 70's in Amsterdam when my elder hippy friends used to hang out in the Vondelpark. And even though it portraits us female Dutch `cloggies' as quite loose I was happy to see that everybody got taken the piss out of; the English, the Americans, the French, The Germans, the Russians, the Chinese and even the Canadians!

Finally something different on the book market! 25 Jan 2012

The World needs more books like this! With typically British humor Gregory Irving pokes fun at the authorities and allows his Hippy heroes to enjoy a fantastic global adventure. The structure and the illustrations give you the feeling you are reading a movie. I particularly liked Gunter, an Alcoholic living on the streets in Hamburg who suffers a side effect of Stan's travelling - I can't say more without becoming a plot spoiler. I highly recommend this book. I read it once at home and re-read for extra laughs while commuting to work.

The only criticism I have is that. Stan's World being so much more fun than mine, I would have liked it to go on forever but unfortunately all good things must come to an end.
