Product Description

Product Description

What do a couple rapidly approaching retirement, and faced with their engineering business about to be a victim of a seemingly insurmountable manufacturing recession, decide to do? How about selling their beautiful cottage in the Brecon Beacons and instead touring the country in a motor home. To complicate matters, two of their five Terriers were arch enemies, keen on taking chunks out of each other at any opportune moment. (Sadly they couldn't take their chickens, ducks and bees with them).

Written from the perspective of both human and dogs, you will discover how they all managed while living in such a small space, what their family thought of this unusual and probably not very sensible plan, the many adventures that befell them over their six years 'on the road', plus the fascinating and interesting people they shared their travels with. Why did meeting a Husky on a London caravan site suddenly change their lifestyle completely? And could they still manage to earn their living while travelling round the UK?

This first story in the Travelling Terrier series, the second being 'Travelling Terriers go End to End' (also available as an e-book), will keep you entertained from beginning to end. From Americana Music Festivals, to camp site entertainment around the country, to a dedicated BT phone line run direct to their summer seasonal pitch (a bonus when you can't get a decent mobile phone signal, and are trying to run a business from an RV in the forest while pretending you are still in an office in Wales), from losing a pet to gaining new friends. The simple things of life become your focus, as you realise too much material clutter is not necessary - bicycles, trusty old computer, and a fax machine being the exception. Otherwise, all house items, bar the basics, were dispensed with. Despite the business side of things, being with the animals 24/7 was one of the reasons for this dramatic change in living arrangements, to everyone's benefit. Enjoy! STOP PRESS!! End to End in the Broom Wagon is now available.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read 11 Aug 2013

I really enjoyed this book, and the Travelling Terriers End to End storey as well, unlike some of the other reviews I thought the sections by the Terriers themselves very funny and I had to stop myself laughing out loud on the train, this might be down to the fact I have a terrier myself and have similar conversations with him.

Both books are well written, and a pleasure to read.

Really enjoyed reading about the camper vans and especially the terriers. What fantastic personalities they are. Considering giving it all up ourselves, this book really made me want to buy a camper and disappear into the sunset.

I chose five stars as I have just taken up reading again after a year of sadness and this book was a tonic I couldn't put it down well done to yourself and of course the little terrors in your life we had to get our staffs of thirteen years put to sleep so I can relate to your heartache. I've just Borg your next two books carnt wait to start them. Xxx

This is quite good and passes the time, though from time to time the writing style can become a little annoying.
