After seemingly losing direction and focus last time out, Oi Va Voi return with their most consistent and striking body of work yet. Not many bands could survive the loss of key players such as KT Tunstall and Sophie Solomon and still come back even stronger than before, but somehow the Voi have managed it.

'Travelling The Face Of The Globe' is a bold, refreshing and confident romp through the band's familiar world-influenced musical landscape, with outstanding new lead vocalist Bridgette Amofah slotting in seamlessly, and on occasions even sounding uncannily like Tunstall herself. But she hails from an R&B background and manages to inject real soul into the proceedings, expanding the Voi's vocal horizons in the process.

I was fortunate enough to witness the band's album launch gig in London at the end of April, and they brought the house down. Never mind klezmer, dance and world music, this was as good a rock n'roll show as I've seen for some time, much of the energy coming from exuberant new violinist (and occasional Jethro Tull sidekick) Anna Phoebe.

World, folk, dance, klezmer, jazz, trad, fusion...or whatever, no question about it, every single track is quality.

Destined to be one of the albums of the year.

The third official release from Oi Va Voi - what a splendid melting pot of world fusion - although primarily based on klezmer style of music, there is such a diversity of influences here. Now fronted by the supremely capable Bridgette Amofah (a worthy artist in her own right) singing on most songs, the Voi have fused many styles and a number of guest artists to create what I think is a masterpiece - I can't wait to see it being toured this summer - and oh will I dance !

Not everyone's cup of tea but a real cracker of the album. All pretty good, some tracks are absolutely wonderful. Their best album IMHO. Take a punt, it's worth a listen!
