Product Description

Four young friends from London set out on a motorcycle adventure weekend, clocking up miles in an attempt to outrun the big three-o and their City-boy lifestyles. One night they set up camp in a muddy field, only to discover the next morning that they re sharing the field with an ominously-deserted, beaten-up old caravan. When the City boys investigate, they quickly discover that the beaten-up caravan is anything but abandoned. Within seconds, an idiotic prank sets off a series of brutal events pitching the City boys against a group of angry Irish travellers in a deadly race for survival involving kidnap, murder and bare-knuckle boxing. As events spiral out of control and we learn more about the back-story of each of the City boys, we re forced to question our own prejudices. It s City boys versus Irish travellers, and the unfolding sequence of events leads us to reconsider who the villains of the piece really are.

Travellers 28 Mar 2011

This film delivered exactly what you'd expect if you linked the title of the film with the DVD sleeve. Whilst some of the dialogue leaves a lot to be desired, some of the action scenes are only too real. Thought Dean Jaggers 'Martin' character was well played out and the big fight scene was intense. If you don't expect a Hollywood blockbuster you'll be entertained on many levels.

This is a first effort for Kris McManus, who wrote, directed and co produced this film. He chooses as his subject four friends who are city boys out for an adventure weekend somewhere in the country.
They go and stay in a field which some travellers have recently vacated, but there is still one caravan left. In the morning Andy (Tom Geoffrey) decides to trash it and daub insulting graffiti on the side of the van. Then the owners return.

That is the setting for a sort of mini `Deliverance' type tale without the banjo. There is violence, tension and some reasonable performances, most notably from Shane Sweeney who plays the lead traveller and convincing bare knuckle fighter. Some of the tale is told in flash back and there are enough plot twists to hold your attention. The downsides are all more or less down to cash. That means that some very average dubbing has been put in place, and some lip synch is out too. Some critics have had a go about the unconvincing accents, and I have to agree, mind you the traveller film `Knuckle' had to have sub titles, so do you really want broad Irish Gypsy accents?

At 84 minutes this is relatively short and the fight sequence is above ok, but there is not enough depth, the love interest is awkwardly shoe horned, to the point where I missed it and thought it was a minor case of Stockholm syndrome. It did keep my attention and although `Time Out' called this `straight to DVD tat' I think it is better than that and as an independent British production should be encouraged, it really is not quite four stars, but well worth a rental.

If anybody likes a british thriller, then this film is for you. As the other reviewers have said, yes this film is cheaply made, BUT it is well done. The acting is excellent, the actors are well chosen for their parts in the film. The bare knuckle fight sequence is also excellent in it's sequence.

Films like this put the big budget films to shame, Hollywood take note, you do not need a budget of $100 million dollars to make a good film.

Well worth buying and watching at regular intervals.

Total rubbish
This was the biggest lot of junk ever wish I'd never bought it. It has no story and depicts travellers as bad people which in most cases isn't true.

Unspeakably low grade
They call this a Brit bomb and they are right ... justifiably straight to video or, preferably, straight to the bin.
