This is a great album! I was unsure what to expect, when I first bought it. I need not have worried, this is a well researched & well balanced album.
This project is the first musical collaboration between Lesley Garrett and composer/arranger Tolga Kashif, a musical partnership that is highly prized by Garrett. They have since worked together on all her subsequent solo albums. This album features two of Kashif's own compositions: "Ave Maria" & "La Violet".
Sir George Martin and Michel Le Grand also feature on the album. George Martin penned & conducts his own composition "Two Hearts, One Love", (especially written for Lesley); as well as arranging the Beatles Medley. Michel Le Grand also duets with Lesley on "Et Si Demain", and also conducts "The Summer Knows", where Lesley duets with Michael Ball. Lesley also duets with Denyce Graves, Evelyn Glennie & Bryn Terfel too .
My personal favourite tracks include: "Ave Maria"; "La Violet"; "The Alabama Song"; "Two Hearts, One Love"; "A Boy Like/I Have A Love"; "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" & "On Holy Ground".
This album has something for everyone. Superb arrangements, a varied selection of songs, and duets with some of the most famous names of the music world to date.
Lesley Garrett has always wanted to make a record like this. I think her enthusiasm for the project, shines through in her vocal performance. Making this a must have for all Lesley Garrett fans, as well as anyone seeking an introduction to Garrett's work.
