Product Description

What caused the devastation of planet Earth? Why did humans flee their world? You’d imagine that such an important exodus wouldn’t fade from the collective memory of a species. For such a drastic cataclysm, shouldn’t there be a well-known legend to offer us some clues? We’ve pieced together some amazing theories. They’ve all been hard to unearth. Lives have been lost, perhaps in vain. It’s funny; often, just when you think you finally grasp a bit of the truth, your sense of reality broadens or shifts leading you in new directions. I wonder if some Evil Deceiver is trying to lead us astray.

Spoiled by the ending 11 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The story line was really great, up to the end that is.

Generations after mankind was forced to flee earth the main power in the galaxy decides that if mankind had destroyed earth the last humans must be exterminated for the greater good of the galaxy, if a natural disaster had destroyed earth we would be given all the help we needed to build a new civilisation. The problem is that all records of what happened have been lost over time, a team of humans and aliens must decide what is fact and what is fiction: is it someone recording the end of the world or was it part of a disaster movie.

It was really great up till about the last 2 chapters, at that point it just turned into a pile of garbage (before then I would have given it 4 stars), it made no real sense as all, it was as though the author just decided they had had enough and wanted to finish the book in as few words as possible or had decided to lecture us all on the evils of consumerism, corporations and capitalism (although there was no hint of this in the rest of the book).

Interesting, but... 3 Mar 2012
By DLM - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm giving this book two stars not because the overall storyline didn't have potential but because the really trite, anti-capitalism ending ruined it for me. The story held my interest until the last three or four chapters. Then I felt like I was receiving a lecture on the evils of corporate greed and big oil. Please, there were so many interesting directions the author was exploring and it was a total let down that this was what he chose at the end. The final chapter took a really weird and esoteric slant that, again, felt more like I was being "lectured at" than that the author was wrapping up the story. Finally, the editing totally fell apart in the second half of the book which became very distracting. I wouldn't have wasted my time reading this if I would have known in advance that in the end this was just a vehicle for the author to spin his political views.

Great read! 23 Jun 2011

This was an incredible story! I couldn't put it down. Why did people evacuate Earth? Did humans cause it or was it natural? Was it a rogue planet crashing into our world or a solar storm? Was it pollution and a mighty flood? Was it an experiment gone bad at CERN? Did the plates shift? Was there a Nuclear War? Several scenarios are explored as a team of Intergalactic Archaeologists research the question. You get to explore Sidonia and Eros. Sidonia is a huge engineered world that encompasses a star. Eros is a hollowed out asteroid that humans have colonized as they roam through space. Themes of interplanetary reincarnation, life, death, and the future of the human race are explored. The story starts on an abandoned Lunar base.

Great Read 12 Mar 2012
By returning sci-fi fan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a fascinating book. The author has a sweeping imagination, and is a gifted storyteller. I was once a big sci-fi fan, but hadn't read any in some some, and I wasn't sure whether I would like this book. Any hesitancy I had quickly faded after reading the first chapter. I was drawn in hook, line and sinker. The story chronicles the doom of the earth, and fans of authors like Asimov or Heinlein would be right at home with the twists and turns in the fast-moving plot. I can't wait to read this author's next work.
