Product Description

Product Description

We've heard it all before - bored urbanite quits rat race for life of travel and adventure. Or have we? Thanks to superhuman naivety and a crippling lack of preparation, Adonis' story is an improbable barrage of comical escapades. Set against a shifting backdrop, ranging from ancient lost cities to strip clubs, his travels fling him from the terror of near death experiences to moments of life-affirming joy. Tales of guns, drugs, deadly animals, destructive forces of nature and cheerful muggings might make Adonis sound like one of those insane adrenaline junkies, but, incredibly, this is a true story about a normal person. This could be your story.

Great read!!! 18 Nov 2009
By LL
Format:Paperback
This book is basically the travelog of a bumbling sarcastic Brit. It catalogues his (mis)adventures and musings of backpacking around the world. Humorous and accessible - it will resonate with anyone that has travelled by themselves. Having been to a few of the places from the book myself - it brought back a strong sense of nostalgia and has left me with itchy feet for my next trip.

Written with a complicated mix of self deprecation and superiority complex. This book is constantly entertaining and does well conveying a sense of the places visited. Although the book occasionally drifts into the realm of reading someone else's diary - at its finest points it is a witty look at `the gap year'.

The characters and situations will be familiar to anyone who has been backpacking and are well captured by the author. Definitely give this a read if you are a fan of travelling or have dreams of escaping the rat race.

Witty 10 Nov 2009
Format:Paperback
This book is very funny and witty. I you are planning to backpack through South America than it's an absolute must have. If you are not planning it's worth by the fun itself.

It paints a very nice and acurate picture of South America.
