Blanton has put together case studies of travel writing since the 18th century, with James Boswell, to the 20th century, with Graham Greene, Roland Barthes, and Bruce Chatwin.
The chapters are mostly summaries of the different selected writers and publications, with some insight in terms of growing involvement of the self in, and its revelation through, travel writing throughout time.
Will be of particular interest for readers especially interested in the writers selected as case studies.
