Max Hanson feels pressured from all sides. He's the star player of his school hockey team, but his mother constantly nags him about pursuing the art career she once dreamed of. Max himself isn't really sure what he desires from the future, but then he meets Molly White and his whole world changes. Molly is everything that Max isn't - Free, spontaneous and open. They begin dating, and one night she casually introduces him to heroin at a party. Turns out she isn't so free after all, relying on her parents for financial support, and is far from happy too, when she doesn't have any 'china white' left.
From here on we follow Max in his downward spiral to drug addiction. We watch him lose everything he has worked so hard for, and now instead of a bright future the gray skies of addiction descend.
For a made-for-TV movie you will be highly impressed, by not only the caliber of acting, but the cast list as well. You will see Jonathan Jackson (General Hospital) as Max Hanson, Carly Pope (Popular) as Molly White, JoBeth Williams (Poltergeist) as the overbearing mother, and even Hayden Christensen (Star Wars) as one of Max's best friends.
Note: The transfer (picture quality) on this release of the film is noticeably better than the original Odyssey Video version, it no longer looks good just for a TV movie. So if you're a 'Trapped In A Purple Haze' fan I would recommend buying it again
