Lucy Mallows is a travel writer, photographer, editor and translator who, ever hopeful of following in the hallowed footsteps of her literary heroes Dostoyevsky, Turgenev, Chekhov and Gogol, moved to Budapest in 1993 with the intention of writing the 'Great Gloomy Eastern European Novel'.
She worked for 12 years as a travel writer, editor, journalist, translator and photographer, working for local newspapers and magazines and writing about Hungary and the entire Central European region for Bradt Travel Guides, Rough Guides, Time Out, Zagat, DK Eyewitness and many more.
In 2005, she moved to Brussels where she worked as a freelance travel writer and photographer. She contributes regularly to many international dailies and magazines and has written for all the top travel publishers on countries from Estonia to Portugal. She is an expert on Central Europe and speaks six foreign languages including Russian and Hungarian. Her passions are travel, soul music and Chelsea FC.
Lucy now lives in south London where she translates from Hungarian, Russian and French when not rambling around Europe.
