Product Description

Tabloid reporters Jack Harrison (Jeff Goldblum) and Gil Turner (Ed Begley, Jr.) are sent to Transylvania with two choices: find the Frankenstein monster or find new jobs. But before the jumpy journalists can dig up their big story, they must first face the horrors of an extremely clumsy butler (Michael Richards), a nymphomaniac vampire (Geena Davis) and a semi-mad doctor (Joseph Bologna), as well as assorted mummies, werewolves and more Transylvania oddballs. Can these two bumbling heroes unravel this monstrous mystery or are they in for some very scary surprises?

I love this movie, I was very young when I first watched it on VHS. And I used to watch it over and over again.
Then when I was thinking about movies from my youth that I would like to own on DVD as an adult, this was number 1.
It's a proper comedy, no rubbishy love story, no gross out comedy, no bromance - just fun and a good laugh.

When my parents first bought a reconditioned top loading VCR in the late eighties, the video store had four films to rent; Legend, Driller Killer, The Magic Toyshop and Transylvania 65000. My views on the film might be slightly clouded by the fact that I watched this film approximately once a week for 3 years. It is worth buying for the Butler/Doll scene alone. There's also a brilliant slipping-on-a-banana gag. I would recommend it highly. My Dad doesn't laugh at many films but he was streaming with tears and bogeys at this one (once a week for 3 years).
