Amazon.co.uk Review

Transporter 2 knows what its audience wants and--like its title character--it delivers. This is a movie that has not only a fight choreographer but also a car stunt choreographer; a movie in which a female assassin wears nothing but a bra and panties because, presumably, additional clothing would be too cumbersome; a movie in which crashing through a concrete wall in order to leap over a four-lane street will not even rumple the hood of the hero's car; a movie in which a drunken supermodel, after her advances are chastely and gently rebuffed by the hero, says "Thanks for the respect--that's what I needed most"; a movie, in short, for those who liked the first Transporter but found it too subdued and character-driven.

Jason Statham (The Italian Job remake) reprises his role as Frank Martin, a perhaps overly diligent chauffer who will break bones if his duty is impeded. The sheer glee with which Transporter 2 casts aside logic, probability, and the laws of physics is infectious. If the sequence in which Frank flips his car upside-down in order to detach the bomb attached to his undercarriage doesn't reduce you to intoxicated giggles, well...you're watching the wrong movie. Transporter 2 is utterly shameless, unstoppably ridiculous, and completely enjoyable. Also featuring Amber Valetta (Hitch), Jason Flemyng (Snatch), and Matthew Modine. --Bret Fetzer

Synopsis

A former Special Forces agent, Frank (Jason Statham) now works as a driver for a family in Miami. But when their young son is kidnapped, Frank will stop at nothing to find the criminals who are holding him for ransom and get the boy back.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great action if some cheesy moments., 18 Aug 2006
This is a really good car and guns actioner. The japanese-style fight scenes are both unbelievably fantastic, if a bit cringworthy in places. The car chaces are good, except for the scene where he lauches in a 360 degree mid air roll to dislodge a bomb under his nice Audi, is just ludicrous. Although saying that, the same sort of stunt has been done before(very well i might add) in The man with the golden gun. Not to mention the scene where he drives his car off a multi-storey car park, into another one, then spinning it 6 times through that car park, and finishing dead stright against the edge of the un finished car park. Jason Statham does a slightly better job as Frank Martin, compared to the Frank in the first Transporter. Good film none the less.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty much same as the first, 14 Jan 2006
By A Customer
ok so this kind of action is not exactly the stuff that inspired alber einstein but its good brainless action - perfect for a lads night in with some beer and addled brain cells. As in the first - good choreography and well directed fight scenes, absolutely no plot that makes any sense whatsover, and of course a really sexy looking car but good entertainment nonetheless.
the only drawbacks are the following:
who on the director/screenplay was off his loony medication when they decided to fit in the scene with the audi jumping 30 ft in the air, doing a perfectly timed somersault next to a crane which is used to remove a bomb on the underside of his car - im not one for realism much but thats pushing it.
secondly - mr statham - you love your body, we get that but do you really have to have an excuse to rip your shirt off and cover your body in oil in EVERY movie you do........come on man, at least vary it a little........try strawberry jam for instance.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit of a let down, 5 Aug 2008
By Dead Ted Danson (Truth Or Consequences, New Mexicock) - See all my reviews

This is not quite as nice (score and cinematography-wise) as the first one due to an unwise move to Miami and a half-Man-On-Fire kidnap plot, but Jason Statham's on top form as is French Frank Miller or whatever his name is. Shame about the wholly unattractive size-zero assassin with the big mouth and bad eyeliner. Typical Luc Besson casting and very, very off putting. She may have been the worst thing about the first film, but at least Shu Qi was cute...
