Product Description

Product Description

The purpose of Rupert's book is to look clearly and simply at the nature of experience, without any attempt to change it. A series of contemplations lead us gently but directly to see that our essential nature is neither a body nor a mind. It is the conscious Presence that is aware of this current experience. As such it is nothing that can be experienced as an object and yet it is undeniably present. However, these contemplations go much further than this. As we take our stand knowingly as this conscious Presence that we always already are, and reconsider the objects of the body, mind and world, we find that they do not simply appear to this Presence, they appear within it. And further exploration reveals that they do not simply appear within this Presence but as this Presence. Finally we are led to see that it is in fact this very Presence itself that takes the shape of our experience from moment to moment whilst always remaining only itself. We see that our experience is and has only ever been one seamless totality with no separate entities or objects anywhere to be found.

5.0 out of 5 stars I have never read a clearer or more beautiful expression of truth, 7 Sep 2009

This review is from: The Transparency of Things (Paperback)
I am simply awe-struck by the diamond like clarity and profundity of this book. It should become an all-time classic of spiritual literature. Since I bought it soon after publication last year I have read it 4 times and have discovered ever greater depths to the many aspects of truth it guides us to discover for ourselves. The short beautiful crystalline paragraphs are to be savoured and help us investigate and approach our experience of life from many angles but they always bring us back to the real nature of experience rather than our interpretations and do not allow us to accept the many erroneous concepts we hold about life which distort our experience of it so distressingly.

Read this book slowly more than once. It is a rare gem that shows its quality by revealing more with each reading. Having read hundreds of books that speak of this subject over more than 25 years I would rate this in the top three. Thank you so much Rupert Spira.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear, practical and incisive - Fantastic book, 8 Jan 2009
This review is from: The Transparency of Things (Paperback)
Extremely clear, this book uses simple but elegant language to portray the author's experience of reality. I have read many books on this subject, but this is the first that I have felt moved to write a review of.

I cannot recommend it highly enough and if there was an option to award 10 stars I would.

5.0 out of 5 stars luminous intelligence, 30 Jan 2009
By
E.E. (Shropshire, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Transparency of Things (Paperback)
Each contemplation in this beautiful book takes us on a journey to the very core of reality and being. In no uncertain terms, yet with utmost clarity and simplicity, the author invites us to undress our experience of wrong interpretations and to investigate the truth of what we are, with all that we have at our disposal.

The understanding from which these words come and that is revealed through them, lies beyond the objective realm: it is the gift of gifts.
