Product Description

Amazon.co.uk

That Transmission had the potential to be a minor hit was a shock to all but Violent Delight themselves. Symptomatic of a positively Trojan work ethic, indomitable St Albans punk-metal crew Violent Delight saw the singles "I Wish I Was a Girl" and "All You Ever Do" slide into the lower reaches of the UK top 40. Impressive stuff, most especially when you consider that the irresistibly puerile frat-rock that they trade in is normally the sole preserve of glowingly healthy southern Californian jocks in massive flappy shorts.

Luckily for Brit-core's decidedly uncertain future, domestic though they might be, Violent Delight boast explosive dynamics alongside their penchant for the casually delivered fart-joke. There's pop-core alchemy at work here, the co-production credit says it all: a cross-generational dream team of Ill Nino's Dave Chavarri and former Sex Pistol Steve Jones (a man one imagines would most certainly grasp the--no-doubt deliberate--third-form shock potential in their cunningly contrived begging-for-an-acronym moniker) that matches snotty, nu-metal attitude with old school punk-rock values to excellent effect. Wall-of-sound riffs propel hook-heavy choruses and vocal sneers ooze parent-baiting brattishness as Violent Delight prepare to profit most healthily from outraging the forces of conservatism. Like taking candy from a baby. --Ian Fortnam

i don't work for this website or anything, but they did a great review, and i thought i'd share it:
Well here it is. We have all been waiting a year since their video for ‘Secret Smile’ aired on P-Rock. There has been plenty of speculation surrounding this release. After such an exciting and creative bunch of singles, who could blame us all? Well here is the answer you have been yearning for: Violent Delight are phenomenal and so is their debut album. They are a wake up call to the alternative music scene. They are young, passionate and funny. Above all, they are true; writing songs that are exquisitely simple without ever lacking in anything. There is no band doing what Violent Delight are right now. (They are the new masters of the mid song breakdown.) This is the very reason they were snapped up by Warner Music. Someone in A&R was doing their job, and doing it very well. For that I am glad because otherwise they may have been written off and gone unnoticed. Thankfully that was not the case.
Their sound is that of pulsing Nu-metal riffs and palm muting interspersed with the exceptionally potent rhythm section headed by Ben’s warm and deep bass lines and Ken’s drumming that keeps the beats catchy and the record flowing onwards. The vocal sound harkens back to the glory days of Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols) and with Steve Jones working with them on the production I don’t doubt that he was wise to Rodney’s potential. While there are slightly weaker tracks, perhaps most obviously ‘Same Old Story’, there is not much of a noticeable decline in quality at all. Some of these songs are from when they first started out at 16/17.

The previous review says it all!!!! This is one of the best Albums I have bought in the last 5 years. The lyrics are amusingly brilliant and have made me chuckle all the way to work in the car. Who else would sing about the sex-life of their parents!! The best of the bunch have to be Parental Guidance and Jump, for the best lyrics I have heard in a long time. Parental Guidance for 'When I was watching telly I looked up at Dad’s shelf and saw some KY – jelly, well the thoughts, they weren’t a lot of fun, when you get the funny feeling mummy takes it up the bum' just spoken out like they are just something normal to say, and Jump for 'I thought all wizards lived in castles on Hills but they blasted me away with their lyrical skills' Thanks Violent Delight you have Blasted me away from the mundane drive to work with your own lyrical skills. This is the most fun you can have driving a car without being arrested!!! Keep music FUN VD!!!!!!

Loads of people diss this band sayin its 'pop-rock'. Most of those people have only heard 'I wish I was a girl' which to be fair, doesn't sum up how good this album is. They are a punk-metal band that sound like an English 'Bloodhound gang' in their strange lyrics and sometimes music style. Its also one of the few albums that you can listen to all the way through. The thing that stops this album getting 5 stars is that in places its sounds 'pop-rocky' like in Transmission, the verses are great, fast, almost dark punk, but then you get to the chorus and it sounds like something busted would sing. Apart from that it is worth buying. They are very funny, catchy tunes and best of all they're from the UK.Catchiest tracks being:
Transmission
Parental Guidance
Same old story
Secret smile
Jump
