5.0 out of 5 stars Totally utterly brilliant 23 Jan 2013
Format:Audio CD
I have been a Lukather fan for 35 years when he started out with Toto. he is a brilliant musician but I must say that I haven't heard anything from him like this before. It is probably the best album of its genre I have ever heard. As the years have gone by I have become harder and harder to please musically but this album is just awesome. Why? Well somehow it mixes agression with subtlety, easy to remember hooks with complex melody and rhythms. It is a very emotional album which mixes anger and disillusionment with love and hope. The production quality is exceptional. The vocals and instrumentation are perfect.

Honestly if you don't buy this, you're missing one enormous opportunity to hear one of the best albums ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome album. Luke does it again!!! 21 Jan 2013
Format:Audio CD
Been listening to this album all morning and absolutely love it. A brilliant follow up to Alls well that ends well. I would say that this album is more of a mellow (Jazzy) album than the last but this is by no means a bad thing. Still the same awesome guitar work and vocals we are used to. Stand out tracks for me are Creep Motel, Right the wrong and the opening track Judgement day. Can't wait for the next album. Get on it Luke!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Musician and Songwriter 22 Jan 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Like a fine wine Steve Lukather just keeps getting better and better. The whole album is thoughtful and thought provoking with breathtaking music and lyrics.

Steve Lukather's guitar work has always been up there with the best and his feel and virtuosity on the fretboard brings out every emotion.

A fantastic album from a real master of his craft - buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album 4 April 2013
Format:MP3 Download
Im a big fan of Steve Lukather and Toto and this album is up there with the best. I have just returned to the UK after seeing Steve's Transition Tour concert in Amsterdam and I can tell you it was the best Lukather gig I have seen (and I've seen a few). The guitar work and vocals were outstanding, a perfect reflection of the studio album.

There isn't a weak track on this album in my opinion but the four stand out tracks are Judgement Day, Creep Motel, Last Man Standing and Right The Wrong. Judgement Day is just an awesome song, one of those tracks that you can play over and over again and its just sounds better with each listen and this is true of other songs on the album.

This is an outstanding album from an artist who simply improves with age. If you like Steve Lukather you like good rock music and like me, are probably wondering why he does not get the media plaudits he so richly deserves.

'Never Enough'

5.0 out of 5 stars A great album from Luke 20 Mar 2013
By Hans
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I was at the Lukather consert last thursday, 14. of march -13, in my home town (!!!) Haugesund in south west Norway. A superb consert. This was the first date of Lukes Europe tour. He payed all the songs from the Transition album except "Last man standing", and songs from his early albums and a song from Hendrix. He started with the first song from the album, "Judgement day". What a guitar player - fantastic! Musicans on this tour: Steve Weingart (keyb.) a great musican, and he had a superb keyboard sound, Renee Jones (bass), a very good bassplayer and singer (bg vocal) and Eric Valentine (drums) - thanks for a good drum solo.

The Transition album has a colourful and nice albumcover with a booklet with songtexst and information about the artists and how the album was made. A lots of pictures from the studio, of the musicans and producer, etc. Its not often that I like every song on a album, but this CD is an exeption. The album contains song with differents styles, jazz rock, rock, pop/rock and slow songs with fine details. Its a very good sound and mix on this album. A lots of great musicans on this album as well - C. J. Vanston (keyb.), Steve Weingart (keyb.), Chad (drums) from Chili Peppers, Gregg Bissonette (drums), Eric Valentine (drums), Tos Panos (drums), Lee Sklar (bass)(studio musican and former member of TOTO), Nathan East (bass)(studio musican and have played with Clapton among others), Tal Wilkenfeld (bass)(has played with Jeff Beck among others), Renee Jones (bass), John Pierce (bass), Lenny Castro (perc.) and Trev Lukather (muted guitar). Some of the musicans are bg vocalists. On the album are also Phil Collen (bg vocals) from Def Leppard. Most of the songs are made by Lukather and C.J. Vanston.
Its a great sound on this CD and every time I listen to it I discover new aspects, new things with some songs.

I will recomend it to every Luke and TOTO fan - and of course to everyone who loves good music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Yet 29 Mar 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This for me is 'Luke's' best album so far. This guy just gets better with age. I do feel the album should have been called 'Transparent' as Luke seems to pour his heart out in many tracks. There has been a steady evolution with Luke's albums and this one is smoother and even has a track that has a jazzy feel to it. If you listened to the last two albums; 'Ever Changing Times' and 'All's Well That Ends Well' then you will enjoy this to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Luke in Transition 14 Mar 2013
By gmahler
Format:Audio CD
It's amazing what living with an album for awhile will do for you. Maybe I was in a different frame of mind; maybe I was ready for it after not listening to it for awhile, but for whatever reason, the album feels totally different to me now than it did originally. The little details in the recording are just great. Don't expect a shred fest. This cd is more in line with Luke's last 2 studio releases. Yes, I still like them both more than this cd, but this one is a natural progression from those recordings. I really appreciate an artist who doesn't just rehash what they've already done and call it "new". Luke's vocals are a highlight on this recording. It's very obvious that he's been working on his vocal delivery. A very worthy addition to his catalogue. My advice... it you don't dig it right away, just give it some time. I can say from experience.... it's a grower!!!
