Eye Opening 12 Jan 2011

I am a new pastor of a small traditional church. For the last few years I have stumbled through prayer meetings where I watched people literally fall asleep. We would do our list and we all prayed for the same thing. Now understand me please, these people all have the best intentions and are loving people. But I couldn't help to feel we were missing something. I had another Pastor tell me about Daniel. At first I was a skeptic and then I had the opportunity to attend a prayer conference in which Daniel taught. I was blown away and I couldn't wait to read "Transforming Prayer" to learn more.

I wasn't disappointed. Daniel uses real life testimonies of people who have been deeply impacted by this simple biblical approach to prayer. I have always appreciated simplicity. Having spent twenty-two years in the Air Force, one thing I leaned is "the simpler the better" when leading people. Using the Lord's Prayer as the frame work to create a simple 4/4 time diagram that teaches Reverence-Response-Request-Readiness, easy to remember and easy to teach.

Using scripture to start the "reverence" the Spirit and the Word invoke the response and the way you go. God's word, The Holy Spirit guides the prayer time naturally. I have never been this excited about prayer and I have never seen others get this excited about prayer once they experience it. I am still learning and now I feel equipped with the tools to lead my church in prayer. I'm sure I will go back to this book more than once. If you're looking to see yourself and others get excited about prayer, buy this book. You will not be disappointed.

The Appendices Alone Are Worth It! 29 Jan 2011
By AirRush - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I was stuck in an airport yesterday for seven hours. By God's grace, I was also stuck with Transforming Prayer, Daniel Henderson's new book! Henderson has written much on prayer, but this is his best work, from this pastor, husband, and dad's point of view. It's not so much about how to pray as it is about how prayer will automatically overflow out of a life of worship.

When I first heard Daniel Henderson speak a few years ago, he said one thing that no one could let go of: "The only enduring motive for prayer is that God is worthy to be sought." That profound statement, which shows up in the book, could really summarize the whole thing. Learn what it means to let God start the conversation. Discover the freedom of agenda-less prayer. Delight in the truth that God wants good things for His children - but the good things all pale in comparison to Him wanting to reveal Himself to us.

I highly recommend this book!

amazing book! 28 Jun 2011

I love Daniel Henderson's book "Transforming Prayer". It has helped me realize that focusing on God rather than myself can give me peace and joy in my life far beyond my circumstances. I am living my life in worship and walking in the Light daily! I am currently leading a small group using this book and the accompanying study guide and it has blessed all of us tremendously. Highly recommended!

Worship-based prayer seeks the face of God before the hand of God. Gods face is the essence of who He is. Gods hand is the blessing of what He does. Gods face represents His person and presence. Gods hand expresses His provision for needs in our lives. I have learned that if all we ever do is seek Gods hand, we may miss His face; but if we seek His face, He will be glad to open His hand and satisfy the deepest desires of our hearts. "e;
