The multiplayer action in this game is immense.

There are 4 classes: Leader (big guns and buffs), Scientist (the medic with a turret, only class that becomes a jet), Scout (sniper/cloaker with a shotgun) and Soldier (not played it much but it seems to be melee offense and good mix of weapons, and becomes a tank). Each class has 2 weapons (your choice from 4 or 5), 2 specials, their vehicle form, different abilities to choose as you unlock them

You've got your standard DM, TDM, Conquest which is great fun, then some Co-Op options. I'm not a transformers fan boy, watched the cartoon as a kid and was looking for something to replace Team Fortress 2 and this is definitely it.

You level up online to unlock new abilities, weapons always stay the same to keep it balanced. TDM can be a bit of a mission finding the enemy at times, but with conquest when you know where they're going (same control points as you) it's more frantic than anything I've seen in Team Fortress 2.

I bought this on a bored whim expecting it to be so so and am very impressed. Check out some official reviews if you're on the bench, it even makes someone as unsociable as me want to find others to Co-Op the story with, and that's saying something

Being a big transformers fan, I thought I'd take the plunge and give this a go. Having seen a couple video previews and demo its looked quite good. The game takes a while to install and the minimum specs are quite demanding for any PC but let me tell you, it is so worth it, even on low detail.

Loads of characters to choose from, spanning both sides. Great campaign/story mode if somewhat repetitive at times. They even make use of the car/plane mode for driving sequences across Cybertron's massive speedways which is also good fun.

Different AI units make the game a constant challenge having to adapt your combat style accordingly and addition of car/plane mode adds more firepower and speed. I would say this game is great fun and after you have finished the campaigns moving on to escalation mode (online) is so much fun.

My only two comments about the game are that ammo runs out way too quickly and you will constantly find yourself scrambling weaponless to find some ammo bays to reload, as well as not very many weapons to choose from and only being limited to one melee move instead of being able to do combos which would have been such a great feature.

Other than that I would say they have done it! Its a really good game worthy of the transformers name-tag.

War has gripped the planet Cybertron. Megatron and his Decepticons do battle against the Autobots under the command of Zeta Prime. Using a substance known as Dark Energon, Megatron launches a devastating assault upon Zeta Prime and the Autobots' greatest defender, Omega Supreme. It falls to a young and untested warrior named Optimus to lead the fight back against Megatron and his troops.

Transformers computer games have been a hit and miss affair over the decades, with the misses outnumbering the hits by quite some margin. For this latest computer game, Hasbro and developers High Moon Studios took a different tack. They decided to develop a backstory and canon exclusive to the game (Hasbro later tried to tie it into their new Prime continuity, but not entirely successfully) and which would not rely on tying in with any other continuity whilst being able to cherry-pick the best ideas and characters from them. This approach - similar to that taken by the recent Batman Arkham games - would hopefully deliver the hit game that fans were waiting for.

They were, to a certain degree, successful. War for Cybertron is easily the best Transformers computer game released to date. It's a tight, focused third-person shooter featuring multiplayer and campaign co-op. The emphasis is firmly on established, fan-favourite characters and on the G1 continuity family, even though the game is not directly linked to any of the established G1 storylines. Peter Cullen has been recruited as the voice of Optimus and, as usual, does great voice work throughout the game. Lines from the cartoon series and movie pop up at unexpected intervals, whilst elements of characterisation and backstory from the comics and animated series are included to delight hardcore fans.

This game has been out for a while but I always approached it with a degree of uncertainty, having purchased the first movie tie in I didn't have high hopes for this one. Fortunately the recent Steam sale forced my hand and while Fall of Cybertron is on the horizon this game is still well worth a look and, if you're a fan, dare I say it's essential.

First and foremost the campaign is fantastic. The story follows that of the recently established 'Aligned Continuity'. This means that the events here tie in with the Transformers Exodus novel and act as a prequel to both the Exiles novel and the Transformers Prime series. There are obviously issues with continuity, the events don't gel well at all with the novel (Sentinel prime is called Zeta Prime in this game) and some of the characterisations don't really fit with the new prime TV show. Instead most of the designs hark back to the original 80's line which adds a touch of nostalgia for older fans.

Your first choice is whether to start the campaign as Decepticon or Autobot, though obviously you need to play both to complete the game and get the whole story. You can also play co-operatively online if you have a few friends with the game.

Then its straight into it and it's a blast. First impressions were that it was a very intense, very noisy assault on the senses. Imagine Gears of War, with enormous robots with Michael Bay directing and you have an idea of how insane proceedings can get. After the first mission my head felt like I'd been hit with a cricket bat! But it doesn't take long to get into the swing of things.
