5.0 out of 5 stars Great! 25 April 2011

Although Perceptor is not classically known as being a truck, this toy is passable because the robot mode is very nice looking.

I give this piece 5 stars, despite the headshakingly disturbing and confusing reasons that he comes to us as an .............. Ice Truck....

Robot mode is awesome.

5 stars for Perceptor.

I wanted a Perceptor because he's my favorite Autobot. What drew me to him was the fact that he turned into a microscope! How cool is that?

Well, I guess not that cool. This one comes as a "research vehicle". But the price was right and the robot mode looked pretty good in the pictures... and indeed, looks pretty good in actuality, too. There are a lot of the same G1 details (color scheme, paint job, scope on shoulder, etc), but spiffed up. He's strangely poseable because of his long skinny limbs, and lots of unexpected articulation, especially in the arms.

However, I don't know any other words to use to describe the construction than "flimsy". There are a million moving parts and none of them seem very solid. He's also top heavy and with long skinny legs, sometimes it can be a challenge to get this poor bot to stand up straight. And of all the Autobots, Perceptor is probably someone who understands the importance of good posture!

Additionally, the transforming parts don't lock in place very well. This could just be my figure, though.

I would say this figure is great for display (just be careful not to bump the shelf, because it takes very little to knock him over), maybe not that great for play, especially younger kids.

I have the G1 Perceptor and although he is a cool toy to look at the playability is lacking since he only goes from robot mode to a non-working microscope. But growing up who cared you would use your imagination. This is a gladly accepted upgrade from his past G1 form even if it's a little funny to see him as a half-track truck. You can somewhat transform him into an unofficial microscope mode if you wanted but why would you. Over all it's a solid toy and so far Universe/Generations is my favorite toy line even if they through in Revile the Shield gimmick to get us nostalgia collectors to buy it and guess what it worked. Keep them coming hasbro I want a new Omega Supreme (please don't change him to much).

I bought this action figure as a gift for someone who collects transformers. She loved it and it is a great addition to her collection.

I'm a big fan of this figure. Really great update to Perceptor, and the hidden microscope mode is just icing on the cake. My only gripe is the light bar/microscope/shoulder cannon, which I personally would've preferred to have a little more flexibility with (for example, being able to remove it). All in all a solid, wonderful figure.
