I wanted a Perceptor because he's my favorite Autobot. What drew me to him was the fact that he turned into a microscope! How cool is that?
Well, I guess not that cool. This one comes as a "research vehicle". But the price was right and the robot mode looked pretty good in the pictures... and indeed, looks pretty good in actuality, too. There are a lot of the same G1 details (color scheme, paint job, scope on shoulder, etc), but spiffed up. He's strangely poseable because of his long skinny limbs, and lots of unexpected articulation, especially in the arms.
However, I don't know any other words to use to describe the construction than "flimsy". There are a million moving parts and none of them seem very solid. He's also top heavy and with long skinny legs, sometimes it can be a challenge to get this poor bot to stand up straight. And of all the Autobots, Perceptor is probably someone who understands the importance of good posture!
Additionally, the transforming parts don't lock in place very well. This could just be my figure, though.
I would say this figure is great for display (just be careful not to bump the shelf, because it takes very little to knock him over), maybe not that great for play, especially younger kids.
