My 6 year old son has really appreciated this item which like the other Transformers from Hasbro is a lot of fun to play with although the transformation still needs daddy's help.

Cool, but... 12 July 2013

Ever since I saw images of this figure a few months back, I wanted it. His robot stature alone just looks intimidating. The beast mode is cool as well. The problem comes in with a) The transformation and b) the solidity of the figure. I knew his transformation was simple because I saw a few video reviews on Youtube before I ordered it. I can live with it, but it would be better if it were a bit more involved. He looks like a big solid robot, but the chest / arms just don't peg together solidly enough. He'll hold together to a degree, but he doesn't plug in anywhere. It's mainly 2 pieces on his chest that rotate over the beast head and sit there. Pick him up too fast and he'll flop apart. That and I have an issue with his legs / waist. When you transform him from beast to bot, you push the legs up and into the body. They click into place, but they are still a bit loose. I hate loose figures.

All in all, I'm satisfied with him. Nothing stellar like the 20 star rating above, but just satisfied. He's imposing in bot mode and will look great next to Predaking and the other beasts.

Predacon Grimwing is one badass beast!Grimwing is the most honorable warrior of the Predacons seeking glory through combat with a worthy opponent.I love the color scheme with the two tones of green working very well with the darker grey for a perfect overall look. Grimwing is amazing in both robot or Ursagryph mode. The attention to articulation is excellent throughout especially in the wings and head pieces in both modes. The tattoos on the wings add a cool unique touch as well for the overall look.In Ursagryph mode the head piece does have realistic moving lower jaw action.Grimwing comes with one cool as hell weapon in Blackbeak.Blackbeak is a grapple launcher that also serves as a companion to Grimwing with a semi-intelligence that helps give advice to the Predacon warrior.Blackbeak is one of the best articulated weapons done so far and helps give Grimwing that extra menacing touch.Blackbeak attaches securely on the back in Ursagryph mode while attaching securely in either hand while in robot mode. The poseability is outstanding with great stability for creating cool battle scenes or displaying this bad boy where you please. The durability is excellent as well with secure ball-joint construction and a solid build in either mode.Another great feature to Grimwing is how versatile the transformation is.Grimwing is 100 times easier to transform compared to Predaking which means the younger age group will have tons of fun with this Predacon, but Grimwing still has plenty to offer up in enjoyment for the older age group as well. The transformation level is intermediate meaning if you have plenty of experience with transformers there is mid-level difficulty. If you are a parent buying for a child of 5-6 you might need to help some in the transformation process in the beginning. After some practice though they should be able to get the hang of it.To start off rotate the robot head piece back as the chest piece with the Ursagryph head piece rotates straight up.Now the head and neck pieces come together and are rotated all the way back along with the wings.Rotate the head&neck piece forward into place between the chest plates. The two chest plates slide inward against the neck as the two neon green pieces rotate inward underneath the neck. The shoulder armor pieces rotate down as well. The wings rotate forward into place on the back with the extensions swinging out on the ends. The front claws are formed by simply rotating out the thumb, then rotate the claw upwards and is then rotated around.Swing the arms forward into place as the the bottom torso section will slide outwards torwards the feet. The pieces on the back of the leg rotate up as the legs will then swing forward into place. The hind legs are formed after you extend out the pieces on the back of the shin area.Adjust the wings as you like and Grimwing is ready for flight or battle! All pieces fit together securely during the transformation for a well constructed transformer all around.Grimwing is one amazing Predacon that will bring a thrill of enjoyment and satisfaction for all transformer prime beast hunter fans.Bottom line Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Voyager Class Grimwing is a well-made,high quality,10 out of 10 transformer all fans will treasure.I highly recommend Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Voyager Class Predacon Grimwing to all transformer fans and collectors out there.Predacon Grimwing Rocks and Transformers Rule!!!

Solid toy, but note he's an unknown character 4 Dec. 2013
By 13wetz - Published on Amazon.com
This is another very good Voyager-size transformer. Unlike many of the smaller vehicle transformers, he is very sturdy and very easy to transform, and actually looks much better than depicted in the picture here, where he's not quite transformed into a robot correctly.

He is a winner for kids, but parents, beware - the one your kids really want is Predaking. You see this guy and are thinking, "oh, he wanted a transformer that turned into a dragon, here's one!" What you may not realize is that there are like 8 of them now - but the only one really featured in the show is the big black and orange one, "Predaking," for which there is a voyager-size figure like this one, or a big-giant 'ultimate' one for $50+.

All the same, this is a great figure - it's true his chest is a little loosey-goosey, but the toy is well-made and holds up to battles pretty good.
