The whole Prey story is one of the best stories from the Marvel UK Transformers series if not the best, but I haven't read them all yet so I couldn't definitively say for sure. One thing about this series that stands out the most to me is the artwork in this book by Artist Will Simpson. His style of drawing the Transformers is one of the best styles both back in the 80's or any other time and is as good as todays modern Transformers artists. He combines the way the Transformers toys look with the look of what the classic G1 characters are typically drawn like. You know how they were drawn in such a way that alot of the toy features were changed and missing so that the way they were drawn and the look of the toy was to some degree two different things? I'm not sure how to explain this well. All I can say is read issue #103 and you'll see what I mean. Take Optimus Prime and Megatron for example they have their regular G1 characteristics that you would see in the cartoon or the comic by other artists but Will Simpson takes the design of the actual original G1 toys and incorporates them into the characters designs and it looks really great! I've never seen another artist have this unique trait and style for Transformers, at least not this well anyway. If IDW is reading this and if Will Simpson is still an active artist, maybe IDW should bring in Will Simpson to draw some G1 Transformers stories. The story itself is really great as well. I think that Simon Furman has a good sense on how to write the Transformers stories and Characters. I was disappointed when IDW did not continue to use Simon Furmans Ideas and storylines on their current G1 Transformers version. I'd like to have read where he would have taken things, but all that was apparently dumped and All Hail Megatron came out and then the last ongoing and the 2 new ones. Not that these aren't good, they are and I enjoyed reading them and the 2 ongoing Transformers titles, but I think Simon Furman would have brought an even better quality story to the table. Just my opinion to a hypothetical situation. As for the Prey storyline, it moves very fast like a fast paced adventure that tells the story very well at the same time. To bad the Transformer book at that time was more about pushing new characters for new toys instead of just concentrating on making great stories and great character development, especially with the 2 main characters Optimus Prime and Megatron but the rest of the cast also. A great book and if you can find one buy it!
