Okay, first things first, I'm a 31 year old man who rediscovered Transformers thanks to Michael Bay's first movie and, since then, I've started collecting the new comics, patched up my old comics collection from the 80's and generally spent too much money on alien robots! However, this was actually a gift from my bewildered mother after a hint was dropped by my girlfriend before Christmas 2008... thank you mum!

I love this!

This really is the best of all the Transformers range and at this price is strictly aimed at the adult collector - my Bumblebee takes pride of place on his own specially-bought shelf in my living room, sometimes in robot form, sometimes in Camaro form. He looks fantastic in both modes and is surprisingly striking in car form, and stands firm in robot form without any wobbling about.

The first time I transformed him I had to do something I've never done before in my entire life - read a Transformers' instructions! Maybe I'm just getting old, but this is a complex transformation but not in any kind of frustrating way, it's meaty and satisfying! My first attempt took me about 45 mins but now I've whittled it down to 15 without instructions, aren't I good! :D Very enjoyable every time.

The build quality is superb, even if a younger relative does get a hold of it and tries to unsuccessfully transform it and a bit comes off, don't panic! It's been designed so that if a part is overly forced, instead of snapping it just pops off, and can be connected again easily with a simple push. However, I wouldn't recommend it for very young children unless you want to be asked to transform it every five minutes, but looking at the price you can tell this is being aimed at the older end of the fanbase.

Ironically the lights and sound are interesting as initially they seem to be aimed at children for the most part, but on closer inspection you can set him so he reacts when someone comes near or picks him up, a great party trick! He also shoots out his missile at quite an alarming speed so again watch the children(!) and the snippets of songs are quite funny. But the best bit is in car mode. Transform him correctly and press the Autobot logo on his hood and his engine will start and then rev up and sit and idle until you push him, when he'll make more noise and screech when you stop him. The idle is again a nice addition, I often walk passed when others are here and press it and it produces a laugh every time, especially when, after a few minutes, you'll hear the engine being properly turned off automatically. However, if you don't transform him correctly and all the bits aren't clicked in right when you've changed him into his car mode, when you press the logo the engine will attempt to kick in but will stall instead. Hilarious! And a very nice touch!

Okay, I've waffled for too long. If you're an adult fan and/or collector this is a perfect addition to your home and will keep you (and any unsuspecting guests) occupied for a long time to come... just try and let other people transform him, it's the best Rubik's Cube they'll ever have a go at!
