This was a christmas present in 2012.

It was tricky to transform, to say the least. 5 people and about 6 degrees between us and it still took about half an hour to figure out. Younger kids (and some older ones) really might struggle to figure this one out.

As for durability, don't expect the sort of quality that the 80s toys had. Not an ounce of metal involved (but it rarely is these days, it seems) and various little moulded bits of plastic at crucial places where they might be easily snapped whilst "transforming".

That said, my nephew liked it even if poor old Optimus was half robot, half vehicle most of the time that he was playing with it.

They don't make them like they used to, it seems.

If your either a G1 fan who grew up with the transformers in the 80's, then you know not all (or any) cybertronian versions of the toys were available back then.

Now Hasbro, finally has updated this version which ties in with the very much oriented G1 referencing for the new/upcoming Fall of Cybertron video game. The previous toy/design from War for Cybertron was good, but the transformation scheme was annoying and too complicated. This updated toy is more back to basics of good, simpler transformation scheme and better chunkier vehicle design. Optimus looks more warrior like.

This is so good, I will be getting rid of the War for Cybertron version, but keeping the weapon that came with that, and stacking it with the his new weapon - in truck mode you can fit both (old and new) weapons on the top of the feet area (turned upwards) - see product picture.

It's more compact and the paint type is better than the previous version!

Any fan from the 80's and now should like this.

Highly recommended!

Transformers Generations FOC Optimus Prime 29 Sep 2012
By HavokH85 - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This review is for the Transformers Generations: Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime. To start off I have mixed feelings about this one. To me it's on problem in particular. Read on to find out why and if you want to add FOC Prime to your collection.

Vehicle mode...reallly small. I swear at this rate Hasbro will be marketing penny sized deluxe classed figures within 5 years. That's my only beef with this figure. The War for Cybertron Optimus Prime looks like a Voyager Class next to this one. It really is a sad sad thing. Optimus transforms into a Cybertronian Semi truck. I honestly liked the WFC look better but this one is growing on me.Optimus rolls really well. You don't have to worry about one slight problem with transformation screwing up "roll out" quality. Holds together really well. His rifle is kinda wierd when stored in vehicle mode. It's either going to be to the right or the left. There is no middle. It's definitely different looking. But it's something I could personally get used to.

Transformation is super simple. Way simpler than WFC Optimus.Parents this is a "Prime" choice for your childeren.Any child at age 4 and up. I have yet to test if my three year old can transform him.So I'll get back to you guys on that. He's really fun to transform. When I first perchased him he went back and fourth countless times for an hour.Don't have to worry about transformation wear down. Im sure I really put that to the test and he still transforms back and fourth perfect.By the way these figures DO sport the Revealers Gimmick.

Robot mode is pretty cool looking. Im bias now because I like the robot mode better than the WFC Optimus. But I like the vehicle mode better on the WFC Optimus. In any case, SUPER poseable. You can get some really bad@!! poses. The Smallness of his vehicle mode did not affect his height thank god.

Overall this really is a good figure. I just wish Hasbro would have found a way to make his vehicle mode bigger. There really isn't anything special about it other than...it's Optimus Friggin Prime. This is one figure one could pass up and not be missing out on anything.

ravage 24/7 29 July 2012

Optimus Prime does Cybertron proud!Optimus Prime returns with the cybertronian look that is less bulky than the first generations version and is just as kick-ass!Optimus has awesome all around detail and articulation in robot or cybertronian truck mode. The cool thing about the cybertronian version is that the vehicle mode looks more like a armored truck for a more badass touch.Optimus has a more G1 style head piece along with his trusty ion cannon for weaponary. The ion cannon can attach behind the cab in truck mode while fitting securely in either hand while in robot mode. The poseability is outstanding with great stability for creating cool battle scenes or display poses for wherever you please. The durability is excellent as well with secure joints and a solid build in either truck or robot modes. The transformation level is intermediate meaning if you have plenty of experience with transformers there is mid-level difficulty. If you are a parent buying for a child of 5-6 or younger you might have to help some in the transformation process. To start off raise up the flap behind the head piece so the head piece rotates inwards to the inside of the cab.Bring the arms straight out from the sides to be beside the cab or chest piece.Rotate the forearm piece around so the wheels are on the outside of the arm.The forearm pieces then rotate inwards as the bumper pieces rotate outwards forming an L-shape.The two pieces will connect together to form the front fender. The legs then connect together as the feet rotate up.The leg section then rotates up and around to end up behind the cab.The cab connects with the feet pieces and Optimus is ready to roll out!Optimus is an awesome addition to the generations line that all fans and collectors will enjoy.I highly recommend Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime to all transformer fans and collectors out there.Bottom line Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime is a well-made,high quality,10 out of 10 transformer that is a worthwhile addition for any transformer fan.Optimus Prime Rocks and Transformers Rule!!!

Awesome figure, even though he's a little short. 20 Dec 2012

This is a great Optimus Prime deluxe figure. He's very detailed, the paint apps are well done, and the transformation is simple (a LOT easier than War For Cybertron Optimus was). His gun is perfect, just like the guns that came with the original Transformers toys: A simple and cool accessory, no stupid gimmicks like the recent MechTech toys (ugh...) The vehicle mode is a little small though, and in robot mode, Optimus is a bit short compared to some deluxes. I think he scales well with War For Cybertron Megatron, though, and looks great facing off against him on a desk or shelf. If you're a fan of Optimus, or Transformers in general, definitely pick this guy up.

Optimus Prime 7 Dec 2012

I chose this rating because the toy is very good, but it's small, so that's why I gave it 4.

I bought this for my lil brother as a gift and he says the only thing he dislikes is the size but other than that it shipped well, and it came on the first shipping date it quoted. And I would recommend this products to others.

I bought these for the boys in my class for Christmas. They loved them. The price was just right and I shopped from home.
