5.0 out of 5 stars Big classic 80s Transformers fan review 29 Sep 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I grew up playing with the original Transformers in the 80s and they were my Favorited toys and tv show back then. I've been relatively disappointed with some of the previous games for this franchise but having just finished this game in under a week, I have to say this one is totally different.

Rather than pander to the recent movies series, this one gives homage to the original series and movie from 80s. The balance between the different Autobots and Decepticons you play is just perfect and the storyline works very well with the original personalities. The controllability of the characters is good and there is more than enough variety in traits and abilities to keep it interesting all the way through. I constantly found myself looking forward to the next level and it does get better with each chapter.

I would say this is one of my favourite Xbox games ever and I usually don't feel the need to give a review but just had to with this game as I've had hours of great fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars different both good and bad 25 Aug 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Pardon my grammer I suck at English.

Anyone who has played the first game, war for cybertron, will understand that which i compare in my review.

Lets start with the campaign.
where do i start or should i say where did high moon studios start. They introduce you into this game with the climax to the final battle. in which just before you have flashbacks and play through levels leading up to this event i personally found that this worked very well and made me want to complete it within the day.

The campaign is what i would consider to be the most varied part of the game, you now have these teletrann stores which you come across a few times each level at fixed points were you buy perks,(Stick with you permanently throughout the campaign.)weapons which are all new or have been modified to make them feel new (compared to when you used them in war for cybertron, all weapons apart from the bonus ones when you complete the campaign can all be upgraded with a total of 4 upgrades.)Also you can buy tech consisting of mines creating black holes sucking in all those close and killing them instantly, flying sentries which were probably my favourite piece of tech.I forgot you still have to find collectibles but they are now audio logs such as in dead space.

Now to the problems or dissapointments I personally had with the campaign. The biggest for me was easily the build up from the creators of the game for the character brutacus the 5 combaticons which combined together to form what is one of the most powerful transformers around, yes he is very powerful and hard to die as him, his moves are very strong but all he has move wise is a flamethrower a 3 hit melee attack and a earthquake tidal wave ability which makes you feel very bored when playing as him considering how powerful and fun his supposed to be.

The only other issue i had with this is that it's presented to happily if that makes sense. This is a game telling the story of the last 6 days on cybertron before it falls therefor it should be just as dark or try to keep the atmosphere and build on that of war for cybertron. Not that i don't like colorful games with amazing graphics i just think they should be used more effectively.

BTW no co-op campaign =(

Good points about campaign.
Other than Brutacus all the characters are fun to play as and feel more unique compared to those in its predecessor making the campaign highly re-playable making you want to buy all the guns, equipment and upgrades.(Not just for the achievements if your into that.)

Its not hard to follow like some games its very simple and comes up with a waypoint, so you know where to go and what to do.None of that walking around thinking to yourself WTF do i do now.

If your a big follower of the old original transformers there are alot of interesting twists, events and stand offs which even surprised me.Along with a few easter eggs such as(MEGATRONS fun arcade and transformer figure crane machine, i was in hysterics.)

Within the last level or two it really effectively comes together with you rapidly switiching between autobot and decepticon as you pass one another building up to the climax and 1 or 2 boss fights. The way they ended it with your decision.(i won't spoil it was astonishing.) Overall this would take between 6-10 hours to complete on normal so a fairly average length campaign but a great one nonetheless.

Multiplayer-is more balanced now with classes by far along with maps being made not to anyones advantage, it runs smooth and quick without any fear of hitting lag spikes.

Multiplayers character creation system is good, take any part from any transformers and use them to make your own these consist of head,shoulders,arms,body\armor(this piece determines what characters vehicle you will turn into),tires and legs.

There are 4 classes to choose from
scientist= Jet,medic. (Heals players and can drop sentries)
destroyer= Truck,Explosive specialist in my opinion. (can drop a protective barrier)
titan= Specialises in close range weaponry(can hold a shied to protect him from damage)
scout= mid-long range sniper/recon class can turn invisable(No To cod players you cannot quickscope)

The last mode is called escalation. transformers own horde/zombies depending upon what you play. You can play on 4 different maps, all of a decent size with up to a total of 4 players making this game quite varied in styles of gameplay.

overall an amazing game 9/10 just a couple of issues in the campaign stopped this from getting a 10 worth a definate buy if y
ou're a transformers fan like me and at least a rent if your just looking for something different. I hoped this review helped.

Once again sorry about the grammer.

If you have this and fancy playing add me XxHeartBrakeKid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome game 16 Dec 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Amazon Verified Purchase
Awesome, but too short and linear, the graphics were perfect and the transformers themselves were OMG amazing, especially Metroplex, just like the toy i had. I cant wait for the next installment for when they are on Earth and look like they actually should.
Must say i was disappointed with the ending, 3 hits and it was over just like that, even the ending video was not that good.
