Steve Jablonsky's score to Transformers Dark of the Moon has definitely shifted it's mood from the previous two scores. More dark, more serious, and perhaps slightly more frenzied, this album is quite possibly the best of the 3. However, there are some crucial differences that need to be addressed at the start. Many of the themes from the previous films are significantly toned down on the album. I haven't seen the film so they may well be present, but to avoid repetition they have been left off the new album. That's not to say the old themes do not reappear - they are just inserted more subtly. This has the effect of making the music sound less thematic, but slightly more complex, which I liked. The use of electronics is very similar to the previous albums and has the transformers sound stamped all over it. The orchestral component sounded fantastic throughout.

There are some stand out tracks that I feel deserve a special mention. "Sentinel Prime" contains some good piano writing with strings over the top before the orchestra kicks in for an epic finish. "The Fight Will Be Your Own" is a fantastic version of Optimus Prime's theme, with some beautiful writing for the solo violin over a bed of soft electronics and strings. What I particularly like is that the solo violin mutates slowly into a more heavy synth version of itself, before transforming back into the softer natural sound again. Quite brilliant.

"It's our fight" contains possibly the best statement of the Optimus theme between 2.28 and 3.07 with brilliant brass and string contributions with a hint of choir for a bit of extra punch. The penultimate and final track are outstanding and turn epic up to the max.

This Transformers score really hits the spot....the 2nd one was lagging a bit even though I've listened to it endlessly. But this one has some sensational killing, hard-hitting themes and anthems. Like the first Transformers score that had some silly tracks (if you own you know what ones I mean 'Sam at the park' etc) but this one only has one goofy track 'Impress me' which is one of the worst scenes in the movie itself (John Malkovich playing the most pointless, annoying and worthless character ever in a movie) so you can happily delete that track, but every single other song is worth their weight in gold, Jablonsky has excelled himself this time.
Track 2 'Sentinel Prime' kicks its off spectacularly and gradually builds up and by the end you're taken right back to the most awesome cinema opening we've all experienced. Track 4 'This Time You'll See' is manacing and heavy and grabs the theme of the hard-hitting movie. Track 7 'Battle' which was used in the breathtaking motorway scene is fast, thumping and get the pulse racing which if you're like me will love this in the gym, really hits the spot. Track 5 'There is no plan' is soft, gentle and easy listening....which was a real tear jerking, sentimental scene in the movie and again Jablonsky nails it.
11. 'Shockwave's Revenge' is dark and moody and is immediatly followed by the calm and emotional 'No Prisoners only trophies'.
14. is where it really kicks off and is worth the price of the album alone....it's really good to see for once the trailer music being used to full effect in some tracks like this one...immedietly you're transported back to the epic scene where Optimus sails through the sky slaying Decepticons, it has one hell of a thumping classical beat and really gets you going. Like I said before, this score is senational for the gym. You won't be dissapointed.

Where to start, Steve Jablonsky is a LEGEND.

I like the fact Steve Jablonsky made these a lot more 'Dark' then the previous movies.

The first Transformers Score was Amazing, The Second not so much but this Dark of the Moon the Score is absolutely Insane!!

Songs you have to listen too:

Its our Fight
Battle - Highway Chase Scene is EPIC!
No Prisoners only Trophies
Dark Side of the Moon - Intro to the Film is Fantastic
The World Needs you Now
There is no Plan
The Fight will be Your Own
Our Final Hope
Sentinel Prime

They are the best songs out of this album

If you like the Movie you will love the Score Album
