ravage 24/7 21 Jun 2011

Laserbeak is back better than ever! This is the first time he has been in a movie version and hasbro did an excellent job in keeping the originality factor ,but at the same time giving Laserbeak a new millenium and upgraded look. One of the new factors is Laserbeak actually having his own vehicle mode in a hover jet form, which is an awesome improvement from a tape in G1,and a bomb in the cybertron series. The Mech Tech weapon system Laserbeak has is a convertible dual-barrel cybertronian cannon. The cannon can stay in one piece or seperate to become two cannons on each wing.Either way Laserbeak has enough firepower to take on whatever comes his way.The transformation is intermediate meaning if you have plenty of experience with transformers there is minor difficulty. If you are a parent buying for a child of 5-6 or younger you might have to help a little.Honestly Laserbeak in my opinion should be level easy to transform, because there are really about 3-4 steps for transformation is all.It starts by simply flipping the end of the tail. Then lift up the top of the hover fans and the wings rotate out in three sections, then put the hover fan tops back down. The legs then pull straight down from underneath. The last part might be the only tricky part. The front piece that is decorativly painted which would be the hover jet's cockpit folds down to reveal Laserbeak's head.Next you have to actually pull the middle part of the body down to be able to extend the neck all the way out, then push the body back together. The detail on Laserbeak is outstanding from the head piece,to the showing of each feather on the wings for the realistic touch. The poseability is excellent as well with Laserbeak being able to stalk his prey from any location you can think of or if you what to just display this bad boy anywhere. The durability is an A++ being able to handle whatever comes his way.If you are a fan of Laserbeak this is a must have for all fans and collectors.Bottom line Laserbeak is a well-made,high quality, 10 out of 10 figure all fans should treasure.I highly recommend Dark of the Moon Laserbeak to all transformer fans out there.Transformers Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Great robot mode, but this ain't what was in the movie... 23 July 2011

Dark of the Moon introduces a third member of Soundwave's minions (Ravage in ROTF, and some would count Frenzy in the first movie) in Laserbeak. The movie character was really quite interesting, in giving us an utterly evil bird who took pleasure in deceiving and killing - truly a Decepticon! On top of this, Laserbeak was also an amazing robot in disguise, with multiple alternate forms, including a computer screen, a printer, a wall display, and even a pink miniature Bumblebee!

The deluxe toy gives us a robot mode that is a very fair representation of what we saw on screen... Laserbeak is very well articulated, can pose in almost any way you'd want, is nicely painted, and overall just looks great. Unfortunately his alternate mode is simply a lazy cop-out, in that it is a fictional hovering craft that resembles nothing in the real world, and he definitely doesn't do multiple forms like in the movie (of course, that'd be asking even NASA engineers a little too much!).

The Mech-Tech weapons look okay on his body (perhaps a little oversized), but they don't combine too well - it's not easy to shove the second cannon into the first so that the rotated muzzle sits straight.

Overall, a great robot-mode that is fantastic for display, but an almost unavoidably disappointing alternate mode.

Grate toy. I needed him because I have generation 1 Lazerbeak & both generation 1 & ROTF Ravage so I had to get the updated version.
