Dark of the Moon introduces a third member of Soundwave's minions (Ravage in ROTF, and some would count Frenzy in the first movie) in Laserbeak. The movie character was really quite interesting, in giving us an utterly evil bird who took pleasure in deceiving and killing - truly a Decepticon! On top of this, Laserbeak was also an amazing robot in disguise, with multiple alternate forms, including a computer screen, a printer, a wall display, and even a pink miniature Bumblebee!
The deluxe toy gives us a robot mode that is a very fair representation of what we saw on screen... Laserbeak is very well articulated, can pose in almost any way you'd want, is nicely painted, and overall just looks great. Unfortunately his alternate mode is simply a lazy cop-out, in that it is a fictional hovering craft that resembles nothing in the real world, and he definitely doesn't do multiple forms like in the movie (of course, that'd be asking even NASA engineers a little too much!).
The Mech-Tech weapons look okay on his body (perhaps a little oversized), but they don't combine too well - it's not easy to shove the second cannon into the first so that the rotated muzzle sits straight.
Overall, a great robot-mode that is fantastic for display, but an almost unavoidably disappointing alternate mode.
