I grew up with the G1 transformers and my 5-year-old really loves them. Tomahawk is easily one of my top 2 transformer toys from any generation (the G1 Skyfire being number 1).
This one is pretty easy to transform, once you get a few tricks down. The modern transformers are generally so complex that the instructions really only give you the broadest idea of what is supposed to happen.
The looks of Tomahawk are awesome, in both attack helo and robot modes. The robot mode is very well articulated giving really good range of motion in all limbs and joints (unlike almost everything from G1). In spite of the relative complexity, both modes are tightly fitted (no major gaps between pieces) and there is almost no wiggling of parts (except for the main rotor).
There are only a few quibbles that prevent a 5-star review.
1) The afore mentioned instructions
2) The upper-wings just don't stay on well... especially during transformation. Fortunately Hasbro figured out how to make reattachable joints, so it's more of an annoyance than a major flaw.
3)(and this is really minor), the main rotor blades always get in the way. In robot mode or during transforming, no matter what you do, you have to bend the blades to get the right change. This bugs me only because of my OCD and the need to make everything perfect.
Well worth the cost.
