As my original iPhone USB cable stopped working I needed a new one and ordered one from the Marketplace. It is an exact replacement and if, like me, you have a first generation iPhone, this fits the bill perfectly.

My old lead had started to break and I thought I would buy 2 of these so I have 1 in reserve to back up if it happens again! I know these leads don't last forever so I want to be prepared for any future problem. Very happy it works excellent and just threw away broken one.

This is an iPhone, iPad and iPod compatible USB data cable which is a slightly simplified replacement for the Apple original.

There are a number of different generations of Apple original cables, and this one is most like the short-connector cable on current models.

It is very slightly wider than the Apple original cables. It fits perfectly with the iPhone-supplied 3G/3GS dock, which is itself a relatively snug fit between the USB connector and the audio output.

Generally, Amazon reviews are not supposed to be about the price of the item, but in this case, at the current selling price of just over £1 for two of these cables, with free shipping, it is very hard to find any fault with it. We never have enough iPhone connectors in our family -- I like to have one in my briefcase, two on the desk at work, one on my desk at home, one to connect the iPhone dock to the stereo, etc. At this price point, my only question with this cable was always going to be: does it work. Yes it does, it works fine, fits, and that's all there is.

With all the original Apple-supplied iThingy cables now falling apart at their seams, it was time to play the "find a reasonably priced replacement that would work both as a data AND charger cable with the various iThingies in the house" game. After reviewing and discarding many many alternatives as either being just too damned expensive (if I really wanted to pay that much for a cable, I'd go straight to Apple and get something guaranteed to work), or which were honest enough to state clearly in the product details that they wouldn't do everything I needed them to do, or which had sufficient reviews left by other users who said it wouldn't do what I needed it to do, I was left with just a handful to choose from. And, somewhat unwisely as it now appears, I chose this one.

What I need is a cable that will both sync and charge an iPod Classic, iPhone 3 and 4, and an iPad 3. Nothing in the product listing (at least at the time of purchase - it may have changed since then) or the majority of the reviews suggested it wouldn't be up to the job - though there were plenty of 1-star reviews that said the cables were total junk, there were sufficient higher-rated reviews to lull me into a false sense of security. And whilst the listing does specifically mention incompatibility with the iPad 1, it also says the cable will work for both syncing and charging iPads generally, implying that it's *only* the iPad 1 that it has problems with.

Given the low price, the urgent need to replace 2 original cables, plus the desire to have a couple of extra cables dotted around the house, I ended up buying 4 of these. All 4 of them work perfectly for syncing the aforementioned devices, and all 4 of them work perfectly for charging the iPhones and iPod.

The USB cable arrived in an ordinary manilla envelope with no detail about the sender, nor an invoice or returns address which I found concerning.

However, it works and does what is says on the tin.

All I wanted was a backup cable to sync my ipod nano, without having to pay £15-20 for an Apple original. For a fraction of the price -this does the job.

I bought this product after my proper cable stopped working. With the price I didn't expect it to be perfect but hoped it would be suitable. For the first week or so it was great. Unfortunately, after that first week it stopped working properly. Every time it was connected, the cable would charge my Iphone/Ipod for a few seconds and then stop by saying something like "charging is not supported with this device".
I messaged the supplier and told them the problem. I received a quick reply apologising for my problems with the product and saying that they would send me out another cable. No problems, no questions and no hassle of posting the faulty product back. I received a replacement shortly afterwords. The service was excellent.
Sadly, I'm once again stuck without a working cable as the replacement did the same thing again. One faulty product is passable but two means that I'm going to have to go to another company.
TL/DR - The service is great but unfortunately can't make up for a faulty product.
