Book Description

It’s said that women and men are from two different planets when it comes to communication, but how can they overcome the obstacles of prehistoric times when one of them simply doesn’t have the ability to comprehend language?
Ehd’s a caveman living on his own in a harsh wilderness. He’s strong and intelligent, but completely alone. When he finds a beautiful young woman in his pit trap, it’s obvious to him that she is meant to be his mate. He doesn’t know where she came from, she’s wearing some pretty odd clothing, and she makes a lot of noises with her mouth that give him a headache. Still, he’s determined to fulfill his purpose in life – provide for her, protect her, and put a baby in her.
Elizabeth doesn’t know where she is or exactly how she got there. She’s confused and distressed by her predicament, and there’s a caveman hauling her back to his cavehome. She’s not at all interested in Ehd’s primitive advances, and she just can’t seem to get him to listen. No matter what she tries, getting her point across to this primitive but beautiful man is a constant – and often hilarious – struggle.
With only each other for company, they must rely on one another to fight the dangers of the wild and prepare for the winter months. As they struggle to coexist, theirs becomes a love story that transcends language and time.

5.0 out of 5 stars CLEVER BOOK...REALLY LIKED IT :) 4 April 2014
By Mel
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I saw this a while ago and dismissed it, but having come across it again more recently and having read some of the reviews, I thought I'd give it a go and I'm very glad I did.
The grammar is spot on and the idea is very clever. It's moving and sexy, with a lot of humorous parallels to modern day relationships thrown in which had me chuckling. Reference was made to the female lead crying for no reason, and the male lead keeping his head down, literally, and trying to fix it to no avail bless him! ;) The noise, (her talking), driving him mad was funny...men really do have a completely different outlook on everything...it's genetic! It's highlighted in many ways in this book, which had me belly laughing, whilst at the same time it was weirdly touching. There was also some tension and drama thrown in as well, so a bit of everything really. The explanation as to the whys and wherefores was a bit far fetched, but it's a story...a story that's well thought out and well written to boot.
Prior to biting the bullet and downloading this, I hadn't read anything by this author, but now I wish I'd given it a go sooner. I've already downloaded the first short story in the Evan Arden series, Otherwise Alone and I have high hopes. Think I've found another author to add to my brill list. Great! ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Something different... 28 Feb. 2014
By Laura TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
Be prepared to suspend disbelief for a lot of this story. It is definitely different in that it has very little dialogue owing to the fact Ehd is a caveman and does not understand Beh's language although he manages to utter a few meaningful words.

The story is told from Ehd's POV. As a caveman you may expect him to be an alpha male but he is far from it. He is very, very sweet. When he finds Beh he doesn't understand all the loud noises she makes that hurt his head but he knows from the first moment he sees her that she is his mate and he must care and look after her but most importantly, he must put a baby in her! The book is funny and sad. I loved Ehd he is just lovely. The sex scenes are well written and it's funny when Ehd says 'HOH'!

Although the blurb explains where Beh has come from, we don't actually understand it all until the epilogue. I would have preferred if we got some of Beh's POV within the story but it still works well having it all from Ehd's POV. There were some aspects as I say where you need to suspend disbelief but overall, I really enjoyed reading it as it is something completely different from the norm. Also, the book covers the whole of their life together.

A recommended read.

I have just finished this book and looking at this screen through a sheen of tears, good tears...but tears all the same....

Transcendence means to exist or to experience beyond the level of which is considered normal or physically known....I am rarely touched by stories that make me physically ache in my heart and cry....the beauty and simplicity of this story caused me to do both....and why? There was nothing in this story that caused angst, or anger or the need to lob your kindle across the room in frustration at the situation of the H/h....it was just the simple need of a man to protect, provide and love and his journey in doing that - who would think that a story of a caveman and his mate would be such a heartwarming and pure story of need and survival, discovery, companionship and the passing of years to the end....and that is where my emotions went off the scale...one simple paragraph before the epilogue and I lost it....if we could all guarantee this way to leave our mortal coil with our most beloved...this is the way I want to go.....

Ehd, lives in prehistoric times on his own since his tribe died in a forest fire. Elizabeth (Beh) turns up unexpectedly in his animal pit trap and he claims her for his mate. She is nothing like he has seen before with her strangle clothing and weird noises! He soon wants nothing more than to protect and provide for her and the need to put a baby in her belly - which all now become his purpose in life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hoh! Hoh! - read the book 15 May 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Hoh! Hoh! I adored this book, thank you Julie @ Goodreads for recommending it. This was so different from my normal reads. I don't do spoilers, but it's so hard to show the merits of this book without doing so. Hmmmm...let's see - Ehd is a Caveman. He is alone, cold, hungry and seeing no reason to continue his existence. One day he finds a woman in one of his traps, he doesn't know how she got there, she is wearing strange clothing and making even stranger noises! Suddenly Ehd life changes, he is no longer alone, he has something to live for. The whole book is written in Ehd POV, so we never know Beh's thoughts, frustrating at first and then it didn't matter - it's Ehd story all the way! He becomes obsessed with getting Beh pregnant and it was so funny reading his thoughts - "wish I knew what she needs from me. I have given her shelter, water and food. Maybe I will try to give her a baby tonight, and that will make her happy". or "I also know that sometimes you have to try to put a baby in your mate many times before one starts to grow. I'm not sure how many times, but I intend to try to put a baby in her as often as possible until I'm positive there is one growing inside of her. Besides, it feels so good to put a baby in her". See? and then there's the communication problem....Ehd only grunts, he has no capacity for speech pattern. So when Beh talks, it literally does his head in! - "most of the noises she makes just hurts my head, but I don't mind so much, she is my mate, she's unusual and she is mine" - awwwww, or "Its annoying and even though I would do anything to protect and provide for my mate, I can't take any more of the noise". There are just so many, my kindle lit up. I thought the ending was very clever - so well done Author. Read this, you won't be disappointed. 5* read all the way for me.
